Two things: -Seether is still a band that has a much more mainstream audience than Thrice, and this cover can only gain Thrice new fans among that audience. Plus Seether gets the props for listening to "good rock music", etc. by people who would otherwise look down on them. Win win. -The cover is actually good. Fight me.
I'm in a Seether group on Facebook, and when someone posted their Thrice cover, people commented asking whose song it is and then went on to say they checked out the album and loved it. This cover is nothing but flattering, and shit, well done. I didn't know Shaun could still sing like that
Apparently Dustin gave a speech tonight at the Deftones/RA show about feeling the Seether cover was disrespectful? Dustin said they're in the studio now writing a diss track called "Seether, Shmeether" for an upcoming 7".
That's definitely the better cover. Let's be honest though, it's hard to cover the Beatles. I thought it was fun that they did that cover of Eleanor Rigby... it's a throwaway, covered it for fun... like Touche covering Pearl Jam. No, Jeremy Bolm can't sing like Eddie, but there's a respect and appreciation found in covers like that which make them worthwhile, although the material itself might not be very "good."
hey we are getting better over at the ManOrch threads! But yea, its also probably all the same people in all of these threads causing all of the same problems... I don't know about you but I never grow tired of it.
