I don't like to shit on other music for the sake of shitting on other music but they shouldn't be allowed to play this. Ha
Exactly, this sort of thing only helps the band. i liked the last thrice record a ton but it isn't that far off of what seether does
Love ya teebs but I think there is still a pretty large gap. Maybe that's my clearly influenced subjective view but I don't want that to ever be their comparison. Ha
Must be cool that Thrice's heroes covered one of their songs, theyve clearly worshiped Seether for so long so it must be awesome to hear that they did that. Heres hoping Thrice fans dig into Seethers discography since theyre probably pound for pound one of the best rock bands of our time. yknow i read a statistic somewhere from a pretty credible source that like 95% of kids today listen to rap or metal but i loudly scream that im part of the 7 % that still listen to ROCK and METAL
Why is there a sigh? It's pretty cool that they are covering a Thrice song. Black Honey matches their style.
I couldn't care less if a band like Seether covered Thrice. It has absolutely zero effect on my feelings towards Thrice.
If anything, it's good for Thrice to have a band like cover it and get someone who normally wouldn't have heard of Thrice check them out
Not that there's a chance, but if Thrice ever covered a Seether song it'd be cool if they did this one.
okay I think thrice pushes boundries way more than those other bands with songs like the window, death from above, salt and shadow, ect... but a song like black honey did so well on the radio bc it fit in with that style.. now listen, I think its a great song and I don't dislike it for that reason. Thrice has always walked that line between more mainstream alt rock and more of the raw emotional alt rock that we love on this site, but they set themselves apart by experimentation and pushing themselves musically with tonality and rhythmically with time signature changes.
The rasp in Dustin's voice is synonymous with singers in the butt rock genre, but he doesn't actually sing like those guys. But, some surface-level listeners hear the rasp and rush to categorize Thrice with bands like Seether even though their vocal style is markedly different. Furthermore, Thrice's music is nowhere near as generic and predictable as most butt rock. Plus, there are no Teppei-style players in butt rock. Thrice also doesn't add acoustic rhythm tracks underneath their heavy rhythm guitars; that's a butt rock staple.
So from this statement, it's safe to say that you hate whatever this "butt rock" is? Interesting assessment .
