Have listened through TAITA, Vheissu, Alchemy 1-4, Beggars, and Major/Minor today so far; getting ready for tonight
Oh man. Last night was so amazing. Haven't gotten a chance to see Thrice since like 2008 but Live at the House of Blues and Anthology are often on rotation so I knew how on point the live show was, but I couldn't have been more satisfied. The general consensus between my friends and I that despite wanting to hear certain songs, we wanted to hear all the songs played too so it didn't matter. Also my friends and I were wooing before Thrice came back for the encore and when Dustin got to the mic he let out a woo in response. Hilarious.
Actually we only started doing it because this drunk guy directly ahead of us was wooing continuously through songs. We were annoyed and then kind of took it over, but only between songs.
Haha the Thrice merch table had a tip jar that said, "The more you tip us, the better chance we'll play Deadbolt." or something to that effect. I hate it when people yell at bands to play songs, unless requested. If I hear this girl scream "Play Planning a Prison Break!" to Casey of The Dear Hunter one more time... I swear she's at every show too. Super inconsiderate.
Such a good show; getting there 2 hours before doors to be first in line, and then right on the railing for the whole show, was so worth it
here's a reason to check my mail more than once a month: i bought tickets to an upcoming Brand New show a few weeks ago and apparently the event location (in this case, The Rave in Milwaukee, WI) sends out complimentary tickets to other shows. i check my mail today, 9/25 and find four tickets to a Thrice show that took place 9/24. i probably wouldn't have gone since i'm not a big Thrice fan, but damn, that's cool that The Rave does that and damn, i would have been livid if it was a band i'm a big fan of.
Also, can we say how good Nothing Nowhere is? Had no idea who they were before the show, and then was blown away with their performance.
My brother got the same tickets from The Rave but he was in Colorado this weekend.. Definitely would have driven to see them for a second night in a row if I could.. was heading to the Packers game in GB yesterday anyway!
I loved the instrumentals but I didn't feel the vocalist had everything figured out yet. I've yet to listen to studio versions but I'm curious to see how they sound there.
Checking them out on Spotify now, it's like their live performance had completely different songs; I'm not recognizing any of them. Live show had way more use of live drums, compared to studio tracks
