I always assumed that Moving Mountains named their band after Thrice's song, and that their inclusion in the Major/minor-era tour was predicated on that tribute. But it's not actually true since Moving Mountains launched three years before the release of Alchemy's Earth. I hope this information corrects anyone else's misassumption.
Dustin's vocals are such an underrated talking point in rock music. It's insane how great his vocals are and I feel like there's very little credit.
I also thought moving mountains was named after the thrice song and it made sense why they opened for them and why his screams on waves sounded similar to dustin's screams
I’ve listened to a lot of MovMou interviews and not sure I’ve ever heard them mention thrice. interview in 2011: How about the origin of the band's name? Greg: We get asked that question a lot, and every time I tell myself I'm gonna come up with a good answer to give. The honest answer is it just sounded cool. Any problems from Usher with his song “Moving Mountains?” Greg: Usher has ruined our Google image, Google search, and YouTube search. You type in “Moving Mountains” and you've gotta fish through that Usher song for about twenty pages. We were joking about writing an album called “Usher” just in spite.
It's even more insane watching him live and on proshot sets. Dude barely opens and moves his mouth yet those big vocals and screams come out of it and he's hitting high notes like that all requires him no effort.
Especially when you consider where he started. I can't think of too many singers in comparable genres who improved their voices to the degree that he has.
Revisited the OG The Artist In The Ambulance and it's such a blast front to back. Can't believe it took me almost two decades as a fan to properly get its appeal, but I feel like my eyes have finally been opened. This has riffs and basslines for days, no surprise it made a significant splash in the scene back in the day
Thar she blows!!! Now we are in mysterious snippet of "Silver Wings" over studio video territory. I suspect we will get something more from them next week (mid-July) or in about 5 week (mid-August). If they officially announce the new album and release the first song between now and mid-August that'd be about in keeping with their practice on the release of the post-Hiatus albums, as I assume the new album will be released with a week or so of the tour beginning in October.
I saw just the fan comment earlier and sighed and rolled my eyes. Good on Riley in setting them straight.
Yeah, it was Vheissu-era material, and If I remember correctly, they were workshopping it live. But it never advanced beyond that.
We will get a 24 hour notification for the alliance announcement. So until then, nothing will be available.
Playground instruments confirmed for Horizons/West. The more DIY the better with this band, so I'm stoked.
