  1. That snippet rules omg. Love that they started leaning towards more experimental stuff on the latest album again, and this seems to follow suit. Sounds like that song could be both dancey and heavy? Slightly reminds me of Model/Actriz before it turns into classic Thrice with those crushing baritone guitars and that ominous sounding chord progression. Gimme the full thing!!

Tried deciphering the lyrics to the clip, here’s what I came up with

    I’m the teeth that gnash
I’m the trembling ash of cigarette
Im the tangled line that always seems to wrap around your neck
I’m the heavy amber that you see to make something known?
All you can do is pray?

    Fight the long defeat.

That's almost word-for-word what I hear, but I think it's "to *wind around your neck" and "I'm the heavy *hammer that you *seize".

Obviously with the new song snippet and the little "12" in the tour poster, we know that the tour will be in support of a new album that is on the way.

Still, I've seen folks online wondering if it'll be *Horizons/West* or if that was abandoned for some other album (silly question I would've thought). This press release, which can also be found on the websites of several other venues hosting the tour, makes it clear that it will be *Horizons/West*.

    Thrice - Majestic Detroit

So what is the meaning of the "I.O.C.A." on the tour poster? An abbreviation of the title of the first single maybe? Or maybe just the name of the graphic design company who made the poster?

I take it the faint "BEFORE" and "DOWN" in the concert stage images are just for artistic flair, but maybe they'll be connected to the album somehow.

They fixed your brain when you were young.

I noticed little details in the flier as well and feel like it's probably related to the album and what is coming out is not Horizons/West.

I do freelance graphic design in the music space and have done my fair share of posters. I didn't do this one, and obviously not every artist thinks the same, etc. but I personally wouldn't add any words or characters that didn't mean something about the tour or release/wasn't instructed by the band to incorporate. I'd be a lot more subtile with anything I added that didn't mean anything and was just an artistic flair.

I look forward to a time when we don't have to debate what is or isn't /West. I have to imagine they've been kicking themselves for setting any sort of expectation back in 2021.

  13. Just came back from the Luxembourg show and they ripped. Went in having no idea what to expect setlist wise so the amount of TBEITBN and The Artist In The Ambulance songs took me by surprise, as well as Beggars’ absence but it looks like they played a few more songs at other shows this tour including stuff from that album. Anyway, Death From Above, Firebreather and A Branch In The River went off!!

Does it matter if this album is Horizons West, so long as they're still releasing new music this far into their career?

    Yes. The people demand closure.

But seriously, I don't know why this is still a question. The blurb on that site says Horizons West. There's no mystery.

  21. Can’t stop thinking about last night’s show. Went with my brother who’s never really listened to their pre-Vheissu stuff so the first thing he said when they finished was « I didn’t know they were this heavy?? » lol.

Feels odd that until the re-recording, I also would barely listen to The Artist In The Ambulance and now it’s genuinely one of my favorites. Revisiting it was such a good move.

I’d love to hear them do something similar with Identity Crisis and The Illusion Of Safety further down the line, if they’re in between album cycles. I’m so ready for new music though, that snippet is stuck in my head.

We also had Coilguns as the opening band and they were furious. I bet Riley picked them because they had that noisy, sludgy post-hardcore feel I associate with his taste. Strongly recommend them for fans of The Armed, Birds In Row, KEN Mode…

Dustin has mentioned not being against rerecording deadbolt but as badass as it would be I doubt they would ever want to a rerecording of illusion of safety or identity crisis also my girlfriend had a similar experience when we went to see thrice play the illusion of safety live her previous experience was when they toured for horizon east and that setlist was really mellow

That quote feels like it was written by AI, saying 'their recent albums, including Horizons/East and its follow-up Horizons/West' in past tense. Maybe H/W, maybe not!
