so i think it's something about the venue's ticketing site preventing the regular presale for atlanta from showing up on soundrink...i panicked and bought the fucking VIP because the venue only holds like 250-300 people. fuck it, pistol was my wedding song, i'll call it a late christmas/early birthday present for my wife lol
$72 isn’t that bad for VIP with admission though. Although, since there isn’t a show near me, I didn’t see what the VIP includes.
you're right. VIP includes early entry, 2 intimate acoustic songs, a Q&A with DK, and a signed poster. easily worth the additional $50 to me, honestly.
With Dustin's solo tour ending in late May, there's no reality where Thrice will be able to put out a new record this year. Q1 of 2025 is the best case scenario now. On the bright side, Dustin being able to scratch these other itches helps keep him committed to Thrice for the long haul, so it's for the best, even if patience is required.
I don’t think that’s necessarily true. I’m not saying it’ll definitely come out this year or anything. But there’s a lot of time to record over the summer and release in Q4.
As of Riley's most recent podcast appearance, they haven't even started writing. So I don't know how they'll have the time to do that with TAITA's last leg in February and DK's solo tour through May.
I mean, writing during TAITA tour would be super easy. The bros and Teppei could write through the spring and Dustin can write on the road, too. Not saying they have to do that or it will happen. But there’s a lot of time to write and record to have an album out this year. I’m cool if it’s not.
The moment a band enters the studio, it generally takes six months for their record to then hit shelves, and that's also been the timing of Thrice's recent records. Because of DK's solo tour through May, they'd have to immediately start recording in June in hopes of releasing something by December 2024. I really wish that was plausible.
ryan murphy, were you able to purchase for the SF show? What I see on Bottom of the Hill's site suggests they don't go on sale until 2-8-24, and Dustin's soundrink page seems to suggest that date has no pre-sale.
They said back in September of '21 that they had 20 songs written. Then in January of '22, Dustin was quoted in an article saying that he hoped by the time the article was published to be about finishing up the album. So, though I listened to the podcast appearance in question, I don't think Riley meant it that way. While they've obviously focused elsewhere of late (re-recording TAITA, touring, Dustin making his solo album), I don't think it is crazy to think that by now they might have the bulk of the writing done. Recording/mixing/mastering/publicity/etc... I don't know how long that stuff takes, but they might have the better part of the second half of 2024 to do that. Is 2024 Q4 a crazy thought for release date?
Thanks, but I am confused. Maybe I am just dense. The link on his website goes to soundrink. The link on soundrink for the SF show goes to Bottom of the Hill's website. I see no place on Bottom of the Hill's site where tickets can be purchased, and BotH's site says on sale is 2-8-24. I don't get it. Did the pre-sale expire already for that SF show?
Being released via BMG? Isn’t that a pretty big step up? also, wonder if this could get bigger due/bigger push because of other artists like Noah Kahan, Zach Bryan and others getting huge in alt country scene whatever you call it
I described that it's possible, but that doesn't make it plausible. I want to be wrong here, truly, but my money is on Q1 2025.
