The new recording is mind blowing. Loving all the guest spots too. Chuck Ragan on "Blood Clots and Black Holes"? Goddamn gorgeous beautiful.
Yeah Palms is good, but didn't really grab me like these two albums did. Some absolute bangers on TBE and H/E and some great tones as well
This TAITA reissue has made me so unbelievably happy. Can't put it down. Can't believe I had to find out about it in the heckin' vidya thread.
So I feel like this version definitely fixed the mixing issues so well and gives every part of the song room to breathe. May not need to go back to the original recording. However, am I the only one bummed they didn’t record the version of cold cash with the new outro they played live for awhile? I was honestly expecting to hear that version without any doubt.
I don't think they've played Cold Cash with that outro you're referring to since coming back from hiatus. I remember them playing that song in 2016 on the TBEITBN tour and it was just the regular version without the extended outro. Only thing I'm bummed about with this new version of it is Dustin not letting it rip for the entirety of the song's outro. Throws me for a loop every time to listen to it, especially when Ed is screaming while Dustin is mostly singing his parts until the end.
lol the news thread saying Thrice and Jimmy Eat World should retire is where my brain actually broke in half today
The news posts bring out some wild takes. I still can’t get over “this record only exists to set expectations because Dustin can’t sing like he does on the original.”
blood clots and black holes is my favorite thrice song of all time and the version here is so good. those chugging guitars at the beginning are so so sweet.
I keep wondering if Mike Minnick sent them his track for Abolition with the different pronunciation of "the" and they just rolled with it. The different vowel somehow makes the part heavier, though.
I'm a dummy because I didn't notice the guest vocalists. All this time when someone other than Dustin popped up, I was like "oh Teppei/Eddie sounds great here!".
