Listened to Colder Hearts. So odd to hear it like this. I’ve lived with the original for so long. But I dug it for sure.
If I’ve not heard the original do I listen to this first or rewind 20 years and embrace that one for a bit before giving this a go?! I have such a weird history when it comes to Thrice.
Honestly, I think you should listen to this first because it’d be a fun experiment, lol. Then, go back to the original.
Paper Tigers is unreal, got chills at the end with Dustin and Ryan from Holy Fawn trading lines. Definitely a little odd hearing the album this way but I’m enjoying it a lot so far.
Honestly cannot believe this thing exists. Such a special experience hearing these new recordings of songs that meant so much to me at one point. And, weirdly enough, I feel like I’ve gone full circle into some of these songs hitting deep in brand new ways. Especially “Stare at the Sun,” but the political bits as well. Also reminded why “The Artist in the Ambulance” is my third favorite song of theirs after “Beggars” & “In Exile.” And why “Silhouette” is one of the coolest heavy tracks ever.
I'm just a big fan of this. actually being able to hear some bass give these songs such a nice kick, and Dustin hasn't lost a single step performing their more intense stuff. I know they kind of leaned this way with "Summer Sets Fire" and "Open Your Eyes", but it's surreal that they still sound this good being consistently heavy for 40 minutes
At first with Cold Cash I was all this sounds way worse, but then Killing Moon hit and I was all in did they record this live in the room together? Sounds like it When Andy comes into focus on Stare At The Sun my word. Makes me want a stupidly heavy hardcore MO record
Yeah really this sounds like a slightly more polished version of what they sound like live now, which rules. I miss some specific vocal things but overall I'm loving it.
Cold Cash was really neat but yeah, when Killing Moon got going I was hooked. Also, fucking get itttt, Sam Carter!
But yeah, I do get the impression that they leaned closer to a live recording sound, versus a normal studio recording sound
Such a vibe. I can hear every guitar track that got lost in the original mix. This was a worthy experiment.
Sounds great so far just started it I do like the almost live style of the recording. Got a question for the last.fm thrice fans how do you set this one up in your Apple Music to scrobble? Like do you add something like (revisited) to the end of tracks? And then the ones with features do you leave it be or change it so it’s a thrice song (feat.)? Hope that makes some sense some how ha just bugging me at the moment so figured I’d go for it and ask.
Paper Tigers absolutely fucking rips. And the way you can hear the bass when the guitars slow down sounds incredible.
As a fan since the Identity Crisis era, I can get behind this! It maintains the integrity of the classic while giving it a fresh take almost 20 years later! Bravo! I also got to work ten minutes early. Either because I was driving too fast or just singing along to the album. Maybe both. (IM/Patiently waiting for vinyl preorders to drop...)
Unsurprisingly, this is sick. Already gone through it twice. Hoods and Wax sound way better this way. But all the songs benefit from new vocals and being able to hear more of the instrumentation, especially Ed.
