I’m thinking they’re def not “live” in the traditional sense but they feel like maybe they’re less mixed and compressed, my guess is mixing wise it’s going to go opposite of what the original recordings did. This may actually be a bit rawer.
i'll take whatever we get, but i'd love a rawer, live-tracked studio rerecording of taita rather than reinterpretations or clean re-recordings of old songs.
For how much they've criticized the sound of the original record, it would just be strange to not go all the way. I think they loved Scott Evans' work so much on Horizons that they realized he'd be the best person to scratch that TAITA itch they've always had.
Still holding out hope for an eventual repress of the original album, but I'll definitely take this in the mean time. Cool idea to add the guest vocalists on some songs, too. Should be a fun listen.
I think it's really cool that they did this, and I wish more bands could do that with older releases, even though I understand why that's not always logical or financially viable.
