I need to revisit Ambulance soon. Whenever I'm in a Thrice mood, I just hop to Vheissu and the ones after it.
Same. Mostly just tai, beggars, and the new one now. I don't like thrives full discog much anymore, but the full tai and beggars are among my favorites ever
The Artist In The Ambulance is still, and will always be a top three Thrice record for me. Every single song is top notch.
Same, except I can't really stomach the new one. When I go back and listen to TAI and Beggars now I wonder what led them to make TBEITBN. I want to hear them jam. They do not jam.
they put out albums in 07, 08, 09 so it's not like they haven't had "quick" turnarounds before. i agree with @Kevin360 and fall 2017
But they juuust got back together. About to headline a second straight tour. It seems like a breather will be in order.
Presenting the Alchemey releases as normal albums and release schedules is really stretching the truth. Ignores context entirely.
It's still a good album and live it seems like they jam out some of the songs like Hurricane but overall I agree. It's not one to go back to on it's own, but I'll throw on Black Honey and Long Defeat into my Thrice mix.
They probably started writing most of these songs in 2015 when they were just getting back together. And their headline tours are three weeks, significantly less time than the rest of major bands. They all have also mentioned being ready to work on the next album already. Each release got a full album cycle from Vagrant, though. So they may be a connected part of the overall discography, but they were very much handled as separate albums on the publishing end.
I definitely still go back to a lot of songs from the new album, but it's been a while since I listened to it from start to finish.
After I saw them live about a month ago I made a playlist out of their setlist, added in a few more personal favorites, and have generally gone back to that when I want to listen to Thrice since it spans their entire catalog. But I am making it a point to listen to this album today, since it's been a while and there's not a song on it I dislike.
I just listened to their SiriusXM 'Octane Unleaded' performance. Now, I want an acoustic record even more. They played Honey, Death and 1979 (Pumpkins).
The popular opinion is that TBEItBN is better than Major/minor. Even the numbers support that, whether it's record sales, charts or ticket sales. Dustin said this during Octane Unleaded but more people came out to this recent tour, on average, than the Farewell tour. If you like M/m more, that's totally cool, but at least respect the fact that the majority of people prefer TBEItBN over M/m. "Black Honey" is truly responsible for these unexpected numbers; M/m's singles just didn't carry that record in the same regard ("Yellow Belly" and "Promises").
