I'm surprised that played Words in the Water. I thought Dustin was in a different place now personally. I really like that song, though. Would be cool to hear it live.

 

I mean, you don’t always have to be in the same place you were to sing that song years later.

also, I can easily still see Dustin feeling those lyrics. I think perspective on some of the phrasing is a bit different potentially. But the heart of the song totally fits.

someone said they thought A Branch in the River and maybe another song negated Words in the Water and I have never understood that.

 

I love Words in the Water even though I don’t relate to the lyrics. I was really happy to see them play it a few weeks ago.

Sort of felt like I was transported back in time to 2005.
I'm usually pretty into heavy music but it felt strangely aggro / fake machismo

My wife was also not into it so that prob didn't help my judgement.

 

It was really great, just not what I expected.
The crowd was chomping at the bit for an Artist song, then they went the complete other way

 

I could get that vibe from Drug Church I suppose but it seems super tongue in cheek to me. I dug their performance.

I like Words in the Water, but I completely understand the distaste for it because of the lyrics. I know a few people who are turned off from that whole album because of how on the nose the lyrics are at times, Words in the Water being the most obvious example
