What is the pressing like that's out? I know there are four LPs, but is there an A-side and a B-side to each one or are all six tracks just stuffed into the A-side of each LP?
I feel you. There's a sense of exclusivity. Like when I order collectors edition videogames, it's supposed to be limited. I don't want to see it on a shelf two months later for the cheap.
Exactly. Most presses usually change the variant keeping some exclusivity for collectors but I feel like they couldn't just change the record colors for this release. It wouldn't feel right. So maybe a 2xLP with a transparent blue/red splatter and a clear/green splatter press with the CD cover art would go over well. Leave the 4x10" alone, no repressing them :)
I'm bored and like creating setlists and our discussion in the TBEITBN thread gave me an idea: Create a setlist out of songs you've never seen them play live. If you've seen them a bunch, I think it'd create a very unique set. I'm gonna work on mine and then I'll share.
I kept it at 15 tracks. Like most of Thrice's sets, tried to balance sections of heavy tracks into softer throughout. Flags of Dawn Whistleblower The Abolition of Man Motion Isn't Meaning At the Last Burn the Fleet The Great Exchange Where Idols Once Stood A Subtle Dagger Weight of Glory Music Box The Window Red Telephone Disarmed The Bellsville Crucible
Just for fun, as far as my knowledge these are all the songs (minus Identity Crisis) that have never been played live. Please correct me if I'm wrong! I'm only going off of being addicted to live youtube videos for about 10 years or so lol. The Red Death A Living Dance Upon Dead Minds Eclipse Weight of Glory Between the End and Where We Lie Lullaby The Flame Deluge Lost Continent Night Diving Kings Upon the Main As the Crow Flies Silver Wings Digging My Own Grave Talking Through Glass/We Move Like Swing Sets The Great Exchange Answered Red Telephone Blinded Listen Through Me Disarmed (Unless you count acoustic Dustin Solo) The Window Wake Up Whistleblower Salt and Shadow
1. Digging My Own Grave 2. Talking Through Glass 3. See You In The Shallows 4. The Window 5. The Arsonist 6. Cataracts 7. Lullaby 8. Wake Up 9. Like Moths to Flame 10. The Lost Continent 11. I tried to keep it balanced, too. I could've thrown a lot more IC/TIOS tracks on there. Doing this made me realize how lucky/blessed I've been with setlist diversity over the nine times I've seen them. Album - Songs/Songs I've Seen: FI - 6/(1) IC - 11/2 TIOS - 13/6 TAITA - 12/9 Vheissu - 11/9 Fire - 6/4 Water - 6/3 Air - 6/4 Earth - 6/4 Beggars - 10/8 M/m - 11/7 TBEITBN - 11/6 B-Sides - 13/2 Total: 121/64 My curiosity at how this broke down now really looks like a douchey humblebrag.
I dig it. the opener going into something faster reminds me of when they opened with Lion and the Wolf and went into Hold Fast Hope. Also your encore would be really amazing.
This is my kind of high-octane set. I know Eclipse was played on the European tour for TAITA and I've seen Between the End. Lost Continent was played on the TAI tour in a rotation. Some shows got Digital Sea/Open Water (my show) while others got Lost Continent/The Whaler (my cousin's the next night)
That is awesome! Doing that list made me realize how great this band is at playing most of their stuff, even their B-sides like Eclipse. I saw the digital sea/open water on my date so that makes sense. Thanks for the update!
Yeah. I got to see Flags of Dawn live and was beyond thankful they play around their discography so much. If they're lurking this thread ever, I've got a bone to pick with Music Box not being played more regularly. Seeing them in Nashville in September, and I'm resisting the urge to do some passive aggressive tweeting! Kidding. Mostly.
Nope. Setlist.FM has a date for mine, but not a setlist: Thrice Setlist at Rocketown, Nashville Moving Mountains, Hold Fast Hope, All That's Left were the opening three. Can't say I remember the order after that. But they did also play: Deadbolt, Trust, Cold Cash, Silhouette, Stare, Artist, Earth, For Miles, Dust, Flags, Red Sky, Firebreather, Messenger, Digital Sea, Open Water, Come All You Weary, The Earth Isn't Humming, Broken Lungs... I think that's it. And I wish I could use my brain to hold more useful information than concerts from 8 years ago.
