Yeah Just Breathe and Beyond the Pines are the only Palms tracks that I think are better than every song on Deeper Wells. In This Storm is just so good.

 

I think both have fantastic songs. At this point, we have them all, so make your own playlist (as we’ve seen others have done).

 

Hot take, Just Breathe and Everything Belongs are top tier boring thrice. Right up there with all of Beggars and half of M/M.

maybe it's just having more songs, but shuffling palms and deeper wells has been a good experience.

I understand the love for the Deeper Wells tracks, but I don't understand how you can compare those to a song like "Only Us". Seems like apples and oranges to me.

Reposting my initial thoughts from RSD 19:

- Don’t think the title track is as good as anything that was on Palms.
- A Better Bridge gives off major Stay With Me vibes in the best way.
- In This Storm could’ve been a good transition into Beyond the Pines. Reminds me of Circles in some ways.
- Stumbling West is, as some people have said, the best track.

 

My initial thoughts the first time I listened to Palms was:

1. It’s over already?
2. Beyond the Pines is amazing
3. There was more additional instrumentation than I expected
4. It wasn’t as hard as I thought they made it sound like it was going to be
5. Are there any b-sides?
6. The Grey sounds better in the context of an album than a single

My initial thoughts the first time I listened to Deeper Wells was:

1. I wish Palms had at least 12 songs
2. Into the Storm and Stumbling West are so cool, how’d they leave it off. I am feeling a little Beggars.
3. The song Deeper Wells is like the EP’s version of having Branch for certain Thrice fans
4. I am happy with the Palms era and we are still so lucky to have Thrice

 

Time to wake up then, we got a city to burn.

 

Feel like Stumbling West would have been perfect on the LP.

 

I think the title track is better than Hold Up a Light, but other than that I agree completely.
In fact I just made my own Palms + Deeper Wells playlist and HUAL didn't make the cut lol

Don't disagree with you there. There have been times where they have pulled down posts as a result of misinformation. Am just hoping this is not one of them.

 

And it includes Red Telephone and Answered? Hell. Yeah.

 

Here I assumed the thread bump was for people actually getting their Red Sky orders (mine is out for delivery as we speak), but this was a pleasant surprise.
