IC: Phoenix Ignition Illusion: Trust Artist: The Abolition of Man Vheissu: Between the End and Where We Lie (or For Miles idk really into this song rn) Fire/Water: Firebreather Air/Earth: Daedalus Beggars: In Exile (this is tough) M/M: Yellow Belly TBEITBN: Hurricane/The Long Defeat
i think the earth will shake is the best song on vheissu but i think it should be either the first track or toward the back of the album
This is fun and hard. Going to skip IC because I don't really listen to it. IOS - Deadbolt AITA - Silhouette V - The Earth Will Shake Fire - Firebreather Water - Open Water Air - Daedalus Earth - The Earth Isn't Humming Beggars - Circles=Beggars M/m - Words In The Water TBEITBN - Hurricane Copped out with Beggars just a bit, but damn that might be the hardest album to choose from.
People are gonna say it shouldn’t have been on the album but it felt like a bridge between artist and vhiessu
Identity Crisis - Phoenix(I guess) Illusion - To Awake and Avenge The Dead Artist - Hoods on Peregrine Vhessiu - Of Dust and Nations Fire - Arsonist Water - Night Diving Earth - Come All You Weary Air - Daedalus Beggars - Talking Through Glass M/M - Blinded TBEITBN - The Long Defeat
Favorite (Second) Identity Crisis - To what end...don’t really like this album at all anymore. Ha Illusion - Deadbolt (to Awake and Avenge the Dead Artist - Paper Tigers (Under a Killing Moon) Vhessiu - of Dust of Nations (earth will shake) Fire - Backdraft (Fire Breather) Water - The Whaler (Night Diving) Earth - The Earth isn’t Humming (Digging my own Grave) Air - Daedalus (Sky is Falling) Beggars - Doublespeak (The Great Exchange) M/M - Treading Paper (Yellow Belly) TBEITBN - The Window (Death from Above)
Also. I think my favorite beggars song changes every time I listen. Really their masterpiece. Just edging out vheissu.
Harder than I thought, and it probably be the same in six months... IoS - To Awake and Avenge the Dead AITA - Don't Tell and We Won't Ask V - The Earth Will Shake Fire - The Flame Deluge Water - Lost Continent Air - Daedalus Earth - Child of Dust Beggars - Wood and Wire M/m - Words In The Water TBEITBN - Salt and Shadow

I would have loved to see them open Vheissu withThe Earth Will Shake (and leave Image of the Invisible off the record all together). I think it's really fitting how it starts off slow before it bursts wide open. It would have made a very bold statement. The listener would have known straight away that they were in for something different. Granted, this definitely change the way the record flows. I'm not sure how I would restructure it, but I'd still close with Red Sky. (Disclaimer: I'm not the biggest fan of Image of the Invisible and feel it's not up to par with the rest of an otherwise stellar record. It has always felt like a remnant (or b-side) of TAITA.)
Least favs is pretty easy Illusion: the red death Artist: stare at the sun Vheissu: image of the invisible Fire: backdraft (toughest one i love this track) Water: kings upon the main Air: as the crow flies Earth: digging my own grave Beggars: the great exchange M/m: listen through me TBEITBN: wake up
Faves IC: Phoenix Ignition Illusion: To Awake and Avenge the Dead Artist: Under a Killing Moon Vheissu: Stand and Feel Your Worth Fire: Firebreather Water: The Whaler Earth: Come All You Weary Air: Daedalus Beggars: The Weight M/M: Anthology TBEITBN: Black Honey B-Sides/non-album tracks: Flags of Dawn
I dunno if that's true, but I can def see that being the case. The song doesn't stand out on the album, but I've seen it live twice and it rules live.
Yeah Image isnt a bad song, it's just stacked up against an otherwise groundbreaking album that it cant really compete with.
My real hot take though is that "between the end and where we lie" only really stands out lyrically for me and the album doesn't really come to life in full force until "the earth will shake" but the rest of the album absolutely crushes from that point on. I mean it's a really really good song lyrically, but musically I feel like it's just good and not on par with what follows it haha
