I love all phases of THRICE, whether it's straightforward or experimental. But, there was definitely an attitude within the band to ignore "songwriting rules" for quite a while. I definitely do NOT want them returning to their old-school structures circa Illusion.
“and she calls from the doorway ‘stolen water is so sweet, So lets drink in the darkness if you know what I mean’ And she calls from the doorway ‘stolen water is so sweet, So lets drink in the darkness if you know what I mean’” are you kidding
It looks deep enough from here, I'm diving this cliff has been well worn by ignorance. It looks deep enough from here, I'm diving they float face down they all look so content.
Deadbolt does not have a chorus in the traditional song structure sense. I believe it’s referred to as a hook. I believe the only other non chorus Thrice songs are the last song on each Alchemy Index.
I do hope for a more experimental album though, personally. To Be Everywhere 2 would be cool, but I’d want more than that. #UnrealisticFanExpectations
"Trust" is a great THRICE song, and while it returns to those great verses a few times, those verses never lead to the same place twice. God, I love this band.
There's a great podcast with Riley where Vheissu is again addressed as the band's masterpiece. And he says something like, "I wish people thought that then; maybe it would've sold more."
Re TBEITBN – "Sea Change" was a type of sound you wanted more of, wasn't it? I recall you saying something to that effect. Would you have swapped it for "Wake Up"?
What are yalls thoughts on Wake Up? My friend who is a die hard Thrice fan hates it but i kinda dig it
Least favorite song on the album, probably bottom tier thrice song, but it has some redeeming qualities
I think it's great. It's a breath of fresh air that hearkens to the band's strong Beatles influences, melodically. Could be better, but very good as is.
