I love that Dustin speaks out on social issues

 

Even though I disagree with him on a host of issues, I love it too. More activists, less lethargy.

The bass on this song sounds like the bass in the bridge of Hoods on Peregrine which is one of my all time favorite bass tones

 

In terms of vocals, I get a lot of "Call It In The Air" vibes from Dustin.

I'm telling you: Ian Miller showed Ed the way of the Force during the Less Art sessions. Ian's bass tone is always gigantic. Glad THRICE has it now to a degree. I wonder if that means less baritone? Probably not.

By the way, I'm stealing "stone cold bruiser" for my everyday life. They should call the album that, in fact.

'Image' is the exception to the rule, Teebs. (I loathe that song, though.)

Once again, I exaggerate a bit and I'm held accountable for it? This is a record with "For Miles" and music boxes for crying out loud. I'm just saying: they could've turned "The Grey Jedi" into a lengthy opus if it weren't for bills and stuff.

 

"Black Honey" is their best-performing single for a reason: it's their best single. I still haven't gotten sick of it, something I can't say about their other singles.

 

God do I hate this take.

 

Also, "All That's Left" is their best performing single.

(And the reason is the Island Records radio department.)

Not all of mikes posts are bad, I just disagree with his idea that this song should be a magnum opus.

The song works as a hard catchy rock tune. It gets you in and out and gives you an idea of what their sound is going to be for he upcoming record (well I think it does, I havnt heard it obviously)

 

I appreciate all the Ian Miller love that I've seen in this thread. I hope the Less Art stuff has tickled a nerve that we get heavier Thrice like on the Fire EP but I'll take any new Thrice.

I mean, it's true that Mike's posts are not always bad, but that bills take was horrible. Also that "Grey Jedi" joke should have been a one time thing.

You inaccurately describe the record wildly once and suddenly it seems like you haven't even heard it, yeah

 

I know The Grey is a Thrice song and jedis are from Star Wars and that’s about as far as my understanding of that joke goes lol
