I don't want people liking this comment of mine, "Words in the Water" is one of my favorite songs off of my favorite Thrice album
I wouldn’t call it a middle finger to that song, but more of a growth for Dustin as a person, and a change in the rigidity of his faith.
I don't forget about Get Hurt and like quite a few songs on that one though. Also, Get Hurt feels like a departure in a lot of ways from the band's previous albums, IMO, M/M just sounds like a bored version of Thrice.
I actually thought this to myself yesterday. Both sound like a band struggling to break new ground/find direction after a series of albums that showed growth.
I like a handful of songs on both albums from bands I love. I have to wonder if the ridiculous hate campaign towards Get Hurt gave it a more lasting impression.
Yellow Belly, Promises, Blinded, Cataracts, Words in the Water, Anthology and Disarmed are all great tracks. I'd even add Call it in the Air to some extent.
My list of favorites is similar to yours, although, may I ask why you left off Treading Paper? That's been my favorite Thrice song since the album came out, and it still boggles my mind why it isn't a fan favorite. Like...I genuinely have no idea.
Anthology is one of my favorite thrice tracks. But yeah, definitely my least favorite output of theirs.
I know M/M isn't one of the best Thrice albums, but the time period when it came out was one of the best of my life so I'll always have a soft spot for it. Words in the water, Anthology and Disarmed are all among my favourite songs ever.
I like the song, it just never stood out as one of my favourites from the album. But I almost put it there. Really the only songs I'm not fond of are Blur and Listen Through Me.
