I understand that perspective. I can find something to appreciate in whatever direction they go, I just may personally enjoy it less if I can’t relate to the lyrics. They’re superb musicians outside of my personal preferences. I’ve got Beggars to enjoy for the rest of my life, and even if that were the only album I loved from them (it’s not), I should be thankful.
Cute! I got a bengal a few months ago. They have such different personalities than other cats I've had. And they make crazy chirping noises:
I've never seen him do those noises. That's pretty cool! Yeah these cats are very different from other cats but they're so awesome! Thrice - Bengal Cats (June 1st 2018)
On Beggars Dustin struck a near-perfect balance between religious and political expression, and that's a huge part of why I believe it's their best work. Dustin's talent for tactfully incorporating biblical imagery and ideas in his songwriting is a massive attraction to Thrice, for me, let alone their collective musical brilliance.
That's my problem with M/M, there were no religious subtleties. He's usually so good at using Biblical stories and metaphors without jamming it down your throat. M/M felt kind of preachy, and was a bit off-putting to me. Which is a shame, because I really liked the music on it. On Beggars he (they) got it (everything) just right. Well said! I couldn't agree more!
Going back through Thrice's discography made me realize that I think they're my favorite band. I used to always struggle answering that question, because the music I'm listening to at any moment can vary widely depending on my mood and sometimes I'll get hooked on an artist and binge nonstop, only to not return to them for several weeks... But my respect and love for Thrice has been a constant. Also, this means I still haven't seen my favorite band live. Almost caught them with Circa but had to miss the LA date due to some personal life issues that came up, but there's no way IN HELL I'm going to miss their next headliner.
Ohhhhh so teppei handled production and engineering? Wonder if there's a co producer either way I'm excited
From what it looks like, I think they recorded and mixed one batch of songs with one producer and Teppei is doing the rest of the engineering.
