Illusion, along with Jane Doe, Hot Damn, and Second Stage Turbine Blade, got me really into post-hardcore/emo/heavier rock style music and I guess I just cant take my rose tinted glasses off when it comes to those albums (although I'll argue that 3 of those records are the best records by their respective bands).
Plus Illusion has my favorite Dustin lyrics, filled to the brim with both literary references and biblical allusions which I'm a sucker for both since I used to study both literature and religion in college. idk sorry for gushing and being dumb about Illusion I just think its a masterpiece and I love talking about music with you guys because youre all cool and interesting and just great company.
I love Illusion, and think it gets lost in the shuffle for Thrice since it's so old. Still always wish I could see In Years To Come live.
I was lucky enough to see that and See You in the Shallows live.....considering how big of a part this band has played in my life I really do hold that experience a close second to seeing Nirvana during the In Utero tour.
Haha, really? It's overwhelming to me. Red Sky is the most apparent, but the general wall of sound they cultivate reminds me a lot of WP and S/T.
i guess the more atmospheric stuff on Vheissu gives me some hints of that. i'll re-listen with it in mind!
Sounds good. Glad they went with an outside producer on this one. It seems like he had a lot of great input.
Watching the Red Bull studio sessions completely changed my opinion of this band. I always thought they were okay but now I'm anxious to dig into the rest of their discography.
I really hope instrumental versions of the new songs are available once the album is released. Sounds amazing without Dustin in them. And that's not a knock on his vocals.
