The Window losing is a crime

 

I would agree if it was against any other song (except Stay With Me), but not against Hurricane.

 

I find it to be so much more interesting than Hurricane, which is good, but honestly, a little boring compared to other songs on the album. The opening groove of the song is infectious, the lyrics are more insightful, and the ending is heavy and powerful. It's my favorite on the album along with Stay With Me and The Long Defeat.

My top 4 is Hurricane, Stay With Me, The Window and Long Defeat and they are all very close.

 

Hurricane and The Window are both so good live too.

 

Stay With Me and The Long Defeat are my two favourite songs on this behind Hurricane, that match-up is particularly brutal :'(

Death from above, long defeat, and hurricane are top for me in that order. Only song I️ don’t like at all is window. Kinda forgot about this album but I️ like it a lot.

Those first two matchups are very tough and it sucks to lose those two in the first round, but SWM and Hurricane are clear winners for me

 

I think the last 4 songs on here are my favorite close to any of their albums.

Man, I love the ending of Window. Like a bombing while air raid sirens sound. The way the drums change halfway through is such a awesome little moment that always makes me smile.

Sure, Hurricane has a plodding tempo but I think the chorus is pretty infectious in an anthemic way and lyrics are so often subjective. It's a little on the nose but there's some great imagery in it. Love the dynamic change as it drops back into that quiet 2nd verse. Oh, and the change to relative major for the last chorus that gives it that hopeful tone is SO good. Really makes the ending hit, which I would also describe as heavy and powerful.

They're both among my favorites on the album.

I'm probably more upset about Stay With Me losing, haha.

 

I agree with you completely on both songs but maybe use another term to indicate being upset.

My top four on this album are The Window, Whistleblower, Hurricane, and Death From Above. Overall this record is my favorite since Vheissu (or, counting smaller releases, the Fire EP).

 

It's my third favourite after Vheissu and Beggars. I think Wake Up keeps it from being up there with those two.
