I mean, in that perspective we could both be wrong. They could release a terrible album years from now and all of that would become bottom tier. Which would make me wrong and you wrong because it would push it up. Call It In the Air is boring and the lyrics are not clever or intriguing in any way. Edit: I remembered your initial reply incorrectly. So the above theoritecal situation wouldn’t impact that on your end.
I have to strongly disagree with Blinded as it's one of my favorites, but for the rest I think Cataracts, Words and Disarmed are on par with it.
Then two bad albums. The point is, in terms of “right side of history” that could change over time in this context. I mean, we’re just fucking around. Thrice isn’t going to really release their worst album at this stage in their career.
Yeah, the lyrics to Call it in the Air are borderline cringe-worthy and the instrumentals aren't even close to being as good.
See, the lyrics to "Words In the Water" make me cringe, but I don't want to insult anyone's personal religious beliefs so I will say no more on that topic. And instrumentally, "Call It In the Air" gives me Vheissu vibes, which is my favorite Thrice album and quite possibly my favorite album of all time.
I’m not religious at all and I like the lyrics to Words in the Water. I love Call It In the Air instrumentally, I’m a sucker for anything with tremolo picking. Agree that it’s pretty similar to Vheissu in parts, especially the post-chorus.
Cataracts is one of my favorites on the album, I'm curious to see how it does here. I get the feeling its not very well liked.
I don't really get the Vheissu vibes to be honest. I just hate the lyrics in that song so fucking much haha. It's like he ran out of ideas for a song and was like, I know, I'll write about a coin toss. I'm not religious at all, but I can dig songs that are Christian focused. But hey, at least we agree that Vheissu is the best Thrice album.
Can acknowledge how good of a song Blinded is? I think someone mentioned it earlier but the drumming is some of Riley’s best.
Blinded Yellow Belly Blur Sad that Disarmed is going to go out so early. I always had a soft spot for that song, but it can't hold a torch to Blinded.
I've heard that too, but is that actually a fact? Either way, I still think the lyrics are completely terrible.
Current scores: Disarmed - 5 Blinded - 11 Yellow Belly - 15 Listen Through Me - 1 Call it in the Air - 7 Blur - 9
I was expecting Disarmed vs Blinded to be the close match. I thought Call it in the Air would get crushed by Blur.
