it makes me happy to see good has vanquished evil in both matches. with that being said: PAPER TIGERS
Gutted title track didn't make it to the final, but at least it lost by more than 1 vote so I don't feel guilty about accidentally missing it. Anyway... Paper Tigers
Hmmm . . . these would not be my picks for top 2 songs on the record, and were not even close to what my guess for the finals would have been. But I do like them both a lot, so I'm going to need to listen (possibly a few times) and decide . . .
I did think Paper Tigers could make the finals even if I don't like it, but I didn't think Cold Cash would make it.
Man do I love "Paper Tigers"! And "Cold Cash and Colder Hearts" is easily the worst song title in Thrice's discography. But I have to give my vote to "Cold Cash and Colder Hearts". It sets the stage for the album so well, and incorporates various elements of their sound from that time in one song. Plus the lyrics are (sadly) still so relevant, if not even moreso, nearly 15 years later!
Considering all the titles that came before and have come since, it really is bizarre that “Cold Cash and Colder Hearts” is on the same record as “Blood Clots and Black Holes.” Randomly, I’d be really interested in someone asking Dustin about these two song titles haha. Was it just because they were rushed? Edit: Shit, even Artist in the Ambulance. Was Dustin just alliteration happy?
And then he opens the next record with Image of the Invisible! Dustin is just an alliterative animal.
I like the Cold Cash and Colder Hearts title. It's not as cheesy and terrible as something like "Okay, I believe you but my tommy gun don't"
