Seriously. Probably my least two favorite songs on the album. I guess I'd have to vote Artist over Stare at the Sun, but wow. Far from the best on the album.
I like this album, but I am not sure anything here would make my top 20 Thrice Songs. The two above are as good as any of the others on here.
IOS, Beggars, M/m, Vhessiu, TBEITBN, and some of TAI all have songs way stronger than most of the songs here.
Oh, I meant I disagree about those two songs being as good as the rest of the album. I'd rank them as some of the worst songs on the album.
Killing Moon, Paper Tigers, Hoods, Wax, and Blood Clots are all fairly forgettable within the context of what Thrice can do. If I never heard those songs again, I wouldn’t be missing much. The title track is fine. Fun guitar lead and solid lyrics. SATS has that killer riff and really great lyrics. But again, I wouldn’t put much from this album anywhere near top level Thrice. So I won’t defend them too terribly much.
Again, I couldn't disagree more. Stare at the Sun has probably the least interesting lyrics on the album for me. Hoods on Peregrine, The Melting Point of Wax, Blood Clots and Black Holes, The Abolition of Man, and Don't Tell and We Won't Ask are all far more interesting musically and lyrically to me. It's not even close or in the same ball park. Cold Cash and Colder Hearts is a great opener with way more energy and more interesting lyrics than either Stare at the Sun or The Artist in the Ambulance. Artist in the Ambulance is fun live, but again, I find the lyrics to be a little on the cheesey side. I think the back stretch of the album is the best part of the album, from Hoods on Peregrine to the end.
It’s one of their weakest albums by a huge stretch. I really don’t feel like going in depth on it. It’s just not worth my time. There is some good to great stuff on here, but a lot I could never go back to and be totally fine with it. I wouldn’t be missing out.
It’s weird, since TAITA was the first album I heard and that often seems to play a factor in how much people like an album. And it just doesn’t do much for me.
