My review went live today. REVIEW: Thrice return with powerhouse new record, ‘To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere’ Album rules. Plays like a rock album with outbursts of experimental design. Tones and production are aweesome, and Dustin has never sounded better. Hurricane is easily one of my favorite Thrice songs. Besides that, The Window, Long Defeat, Salt and Shadow are favorites, but I have yet to skip a track when spinning this.
My copy just got delivered. Thanks for getting it to me early Barnes and Noble! This is going to make my work day feel longer.
I don't know you. You don't know me. But I, Kevin, am jealous of you to a degree that cannot be fathomed.
First review is up.. REVIEW: Thrice return with powerhouse new record, ‘To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere’
Any idea if the download card will work now or will it be on lockdown until Friday? I can't rip the vinyl so that's going to suck if I can't put it on my phone.
Interviews: Thrice's Ed Breckenridge on the band's high-energy return Sounds like they are already planning the next album
Ed's comments are a little befuddling in places. I think that's why the Thrice Twitter feed hasn't promoted this interview. He almost sounds dissatisfied with the record given what he had in mind for their comeback album. He didn't like the writing process as it prevented them from having a real back and forth as far as what direction they were going to take, both macro and micro.
I preordered through Amazon so mine should be delivered on Friday. Jealous other people's copies have started being delivered.
I got the new 1975 vinyl delivered two days early and my download card did not work. Hope you have better luck.
Waiting to hear the full length to reserve judgement, but holy crap what I wouldn't give to hear a Thrice "smash people's faces" record........
Great job on your review, Drew. This is exactly what I was hoping to hear prior to the stream/release. Plus, you're the first person to officially proclaim Thrice's comeback to be a success. So, even though the record isn't streaming yet, you're our frame of reference or measuring stick. Small correction: There's an error in your review as "The Long Defeat" is written as "The Great Defeat." I bet you've had "The Great Exchange" on your dial recently.
Just stream already. I got my shipment confirmation, the only thing sent was the label though. It's coming from somewhere in VA and I'm in MD so I'm expecting this either Thursday or Friday.
Mine says it was set to ship last Friday, but it only shows the label as printed. Most of my packages are UPS or USPS, so FedEx information is a little foreign to me.
Super insightful perspective from Ed, sucks that it sounds like he is not satisfied with the outcome of the record. Hope he gets more of his input through on the next one. Love that he views Vheissu as their most punk record, as it was almost defiantly written.
My shipping label was just created today as well. Wasn't the preorder done through Kings Road? They always ship from LA so it's confusing to see the VA addresses in there.
