I don't think music should have lyrics. I just want nonsensical gibberish. It's why I'm grateful for Anthony Kiedis.
You can absolutely criticize lyrics without even focusing on what topics they're discussing. Also I don't see a problem with not liking a song because you deeply disagree with the lyrical content. There are many things I don't agree with and wouldn't want to hear a song about.
So to change the subject, it doesn't look like we're getting a stream today. Honestly the closer it gets the more I'm content with a stream not coming at all and just diving in on Friday.
A good songwritier or actor can take on a perspective. Dustin chose that of an Drone pilot and their experience. It's the erotic from that point of view I'm enjoying. Just like Daedalus. It's imagining someone else's point of view. Obviously he's proven he can write the flip side perspective too, having previously written the Melting point of Wax. Who knows, maybe I a few years he'll write from the point of view of a kid growing up in the Middle East, and watching bombers fly by, or from the point of view of a conflicted general trying to save lives. Yes, his personal belief is probably against drone strikes and military action. In this song though, it's feels like more storytelling that Black Honey and Blood in the Sand. Either way, so happy they are back. The songs sound amazing, the production is sick, and the guys seem re-energized. Looking forward to hearing the full album
I don't like the text on the cover...it makes it look weirdly like a placeholder cover to me and I can't shake it. but yeah I'm excited to hear it, hope it's as Beggars-y as I'm hearing
The comparisons to Beggars, Vheissu, Fire, and Air that I've seen in this thread have me eagerly anticipating this album now.
This sounds a lot "bigger" than everything I've heard up to this point. Can't wait for a front to back listen.
I actually think it works really well. Just try and imagine the background by itself. I don't think I'd like it.
