Well, if it's fair to impose scriptural inspiration on a song I haven't heard yet, Jesus does call the church salt and light in Matthew 5:13-16. Perhaps the substitution of "shadow" refers to the corruption at Mars Hill. Or else I'm grasping at straws, because Friday won't get here fast enough.
Done listening to that rip of the stream. Quality is bad. Actually, I'm done listening to any more Thrice until the Friday, or the album leaks in full.
DFA is so good. Thrice is really back and doing better than ever. Is this the general assumption? Did you all like what you heard so far?
Is it too early to call this my favorite Thrice record yet after hearing just three songs? Hoping for a stream today.
I'm not sure which it was ripped from. I just listened to it once yesterday didn't realize a better one had showed up until today.
Here's a nice interview with Riley on the front page of this site, gives a good amount of insight into specific songs. Got me even more excited for this album. Riley Breckenridge of Thrice • chorus.fm
the Colour Revolt name-drop has me REALLLLY excited. Also he's entirely correct in that that band is completely underrated and every Thrice fan (if not everyone) should check them out. Case in point:
Damn, that's some good stuff. I've heard some Colour Revolt stuff before, but never really got into them. I was younger though, music taste has definitely changed since then.
