Hopefully only two more days! :D the album will hit us harder if we haven't heard all of it! Totally won't do this if Brand New release another single though, I will play that to death and no one can stop me
The last minute of Death From Above takes more than a page from Vheissu's book of tricks, everything else might as well be on the Fire EP. This single stands a head taller over the first two...Friday can't come soon enough, chaps.
I hate judging records on singles!!! Can't wait to hear the whole thing before forming an opinion lol
Easily the best of the three songs released so far, I'm loving the political theme this album seems to have. EDIT: That chorus riff is monstrous.
I seem to be the only person who thinks "Black Honey" is the best song released so far. It's consistently good across the board even if "Death from Above" has the highest high so far (the bridge/outro).
I think Black Honey is a better song overall. Death From Above has some rad riffage, but overall I dig Black Honey more.
I like Black Honey the most so far, too. Death From Above is really cool, but Black Honey is just fantastic.
Dustin has such amazing range...going from his recent acoustic live album to the chorus of Death From Above is like, holy shit haha.
Yeah I've been most impressed with his voice on all these songs released thus far. Even though I wasn't huge on the lyrics of Black Honey.
Goodness gracious, Death From Above is fantastic. I wasn't entirely thrilled about a politically/socially-driven album, but the lyrics on Black Honey and this song have sold me. Really struck by how cohesive this album is sounding (thematically and musically) based on the teasers & 3 released tracks alone.
Yeah, "Death From Above" has many great parts, musically, but as a whole, it doesn't quite come together in the way that "Black Honey" does. There's something about the verse/chorus melodies that underwhelm me. Or, they're just not as memorable as 90% of Dustin's work. However, the chorus riff is so powerful that it would overshadow just about any vocal. The verse melody reminds me of Dustin's Modern Post stuff, which I like, just not in this context. A song can have great parts, musically, but that doesn't always yield a great song.
One of if not my favorite song from the album. So glad people in here can finally hear it/talk about it/seem to be enjoying it haha. That riff just kills me everytime. Love the juxtaposition between the chorus and verses.
DFA switches to 6 at various points too. Drew, what are your favorite 3 tracks as of this moment (nonbinding)? I'd like to know pre-stream.
