This is really disappointing. No stream a week prior to the release? It's pointless to stream the record a day before the record comes out. Don't stream the record at all if you're just going to wait until the last second. They've never made us wait this long to hear their new music and that's not counting the 4 year hiatus on top of all this. Carry The Fire had a stream 8 days prior to release. M/m streamed incrementally 2 weeks prior to its release. My life is on hold until I hear this record. My productivity is way down as well because I keep refreshing, searching etc. This is exactly why I wanted to pay an absurd amount of money to hear the record two months early. I knew I'd be a nervous wreck until it's finally released. Meanwhile, I can't even read about the record since nobody wants to write a review in advance anymore (despite getting the record two months early for that very purpose). Movies/TV shows are reviewed in advance so we know if we should pay money/invest time to watch them. At this rate, since everybody is waiting for the stream/release, I'll be comparing my own review to everybody else's review. I'm most interested in reviews when I can't hear the record. I want to have expectations one way or another so I'll know if the record exceeded those expectations or not. I'm just kvetching at this point. But, I feel slightly better. (Not really.)
Yo chilllllllllll. A week out or less is insanely common to release reviews and streams. The band owes you nothing.
They didn't have to make this album. You should be grateful it is even coming out. I will gladly wait until release day to hear this album.
Thrice is my third favorite band, there's just too much going on musically right now I need to pace myself!!
I acknowledged my kvetching. Regardless, this is the latest we've ever had to wait to hear their new music. That's a fact.
I'm incredibly grateful. That gratitude is why I offered Vagrant $800 to hear a press stream 2 months ago.
I may be wrong here, but we've had Blood on the Sand for over a month and Black Honey for a few weeks. We haven't had to wait for new music. Just the rest of the new music. It's not a bad thing that they're protecting against leaks considering they experienced one of the worst leaks in the music scene. They're my all time favorite band and their music helped me from stopping committing suicide and I would never demand a thing from them, even "kvetching" or whatever.
"Black Honey" is the only "single" I haven't become sick of by the time the record is released. I'm gonna take it a step further: I like "Black Honey" more than any song on M/m.
I meant the record. I thought the context of my post made that clear. To restate, every record has been streamed at least a week in advance. M/m was two weeks of incremental streaming.
I called and wrote a letter (a damn good one too), but they didn't know what to do with me. I never received a definitive answer or explanation as to why they couldn't find a way to stream the album for me at a location of their choosing. All I needed was one spin.
I feel like it retains the groove and energy of Beggars with hints of Fire, Air and Vheissu (slightly less so) thrown in. I'm really, really, digging this.
If you mean the video on their facebook titled "Hiatus," it's near the end of the album. Rad riffs all over that song.
