Yeah, I don't really understand the whole "don't listen to them!" mentality when they're all like ten second instrumentals.
There's definitely a signature sound to this record which identifies it from the rest of their work. According to that MusicRadar article, Eric Palmquist convinced Teppei to not use his AC30, which he's used on every record since Vheissu (and all of M/m). So, whatever they've done to change things up, it's working, sonically. There's more grit to these songs when compared to the warmth of Major/minor. I keep wanting to say the word "smoky" to describe the sound, but I'm not sure that'll make sense to anyone else.
I'm honestly glad they're not out on the same day. Being the same release date was going to invite it anyways, but it doesn't need to be a competition between the two albums.
I'm listening to Goodness right now. I can see why they have a following, but this entire time I can only think about wanting TBEITBN.
It wouldn't be an issue for me at all, Thrice will get all of my attention when it comes out. But I'm kinda glad I had time to dig into Goodness. I imagine both bands share a lot of fans on here.
Since Vheissu, listening to their albums with out having any idea what to expect has been a pretty rewarding experience personally. Those 10 second snippets would give away too much for me. Although so far on TBEITBN I have heard Blood on the sand and the first two studio vids.
Generally speaking, many writers won't publish any official review over a week away from release, including me. Some even wait for stream or release to publish.
in cases without embargos individuals choose to personally set a time frame for these things....and a common time frame became convention more or less amongst all individuals? weird
1. Wouldn't your review get more exposure if you're the first to post? I'm sure I'm not the only person who's been scouring the web for reviews already. Variety is always among the first sites to post a TV/Film review for this very reason. I wouldn't want my review to get lost in the shuffle if everybody else is releasing their review at the same time. 2. Isn't the label providing you an early press stream so you'll have as much time as possible to collect your thoughts, write a review and then publish that review in time to promote the record (in essence) before its release?
Bummed I'm working release night when they'll be doing an instore. If I didn't need money for my Europe trip I'd be there no questions asked
Although I am pumping Hotelier pretty heavily right now, if Thrice streamed this, I would drop everything and listen to it lol
They started streaming M/m, song by song, two weeks before its release. However, Dustin streamed Carry The Fire on Pandora a week prior to its release (via Vagrant). So, if it doesn't happen tomorrow, I don't think we'll get a pre-stream. The daily clip/countdown proves this as well.
