Beggars is the one record of theirs I really want to own. Missed out of the last re-press unfortunately.

 

I own the first pressing of Beggars, but I want 180g.

 

I paid 30 bucks on ebay and got the first pressing with signed booklet. Love that record.

I did some digging on Twitter and saw an exchange that Dustin had with a fan regarding the Ernie Ball String Theory video. The fan asked if the arpeggio Dustin played at the 1:40 mark (and the subsequent effects-driven chorus) is a Thrice song.

Dustin replied that it was a Thrice song. Then the fan wondered if that was "Salt and Shadow" which Dustin didn't confirm or deny. However, this article brought up the "arpeggiated inverted chords' of "Salt and Shadow." The arpeggio at the 1:40 mark in the String Theory video also happens to be inverted.

Riley also mentioned somewhere how "Salt and Shadow" gives him the chills every single time he hears it. So, after hearing a chill-inducing/inverted arpeggio via Dustin at the 1:40 mark of the String Theory video, there is reason to believe that it's the epic closer that "Salt and Shadow" appears to be.

(I can't believe that I'm actually investigating this.)

Also, how are there no reviews for this record yet?

We're 8 days away and nobody has written a bonafide review of the album yet.

Press streams were sent out almost 2 months ago so reviews could be written in order to publicize the record.

Or, is it customary for everybody to wait until the week of the release?

 

Generally there's a moratorium. Reviews cannot be released until a certain date preceding the record release.

 

I'm glad you actually went this deep haha. I had the same thought about what he played at 1:40 and was hoping that it was a Thrice song on the new record. Sounds so damn good. The wait for this record is getting painful for me now, but it's so dang close.

I wish more bands did what Moving Mountains did with their recent Self Titled album, they put up a song every week in live sessions until the release of the record.

 

Jason previously stated that there is no "embargo" as far as reviews go.

 

Hard to believe we will have a new Thrice album in a week's time.
