Kinda completely off topic but my FB profile picture is with Dustin and loads of people think he's my brother (as they don't understand his genius) :L we barely look alike but totally taking that as a compliment
Also I got a kind of Mene vibe from Blood on the Sand, saw Jason compare new Thrice with that sort of thing, would be very happy with that as Thrice absolutely destroy whatever genre they tackle. Kind of sad this is same day as Goodness as means one will have to wait :(
This new stuff is quite obviously heavily influenced by Brand New - I'm not a fan of BN in general, but it's hard to miss. Fully justified talking about them in this thread. Anyway, the more listens of Black Honey, the less I like it. The lyrics are without any real depth. Blood on the Sand has surprisingly grown on me more.
It wasn't meant as a dig at you, it just seems like I see Brand New mentioned everywhere around here. There has been good discussion in this thread.
So looks like they will be posting a clip from each track each day. They posted "Blood on the Sand" today which is track 2. Don't think I'll be listening to the rest.
"The Window" sounds nasty. I hear a lot of Riley's DNA in it as well as in "Hurricane" and "The Hiatus" video's background song.
I'm just happy there is no leak. Selfishly, I want it earlier; but damn I felt bad for them with the Beggars leak.
That Beggars leak was maybe the most insane leak ever. Three months ahead blew my mind even back in 2009, when leaks weren't as tightly regulated.
I bought the record twice bc of the leak so I wonder if it really hurt them lol I think they did a good job of getting ahead of it
I'd guess it probably hurt them a lot. I downloaded the leak, and then had to forcibly remind myself to buy it once it came out. I talked to a lot of people around then who were just like, "Nah, not gonna buy it, already sick of it."
I bought it twice as well. I really hope this streams soon, would be nice if they put it up tomorrow.
Leaks hurt smaller bands more than bands the size of Thrice in 09. Hell, Underoath had DTGL leak four months early and it still sold 98k the first week.
