Oh, man, I LOVE Image. But the whole album is amazing. Also surprised to not see more love for Atlantic. Such an amazing song.
Man to me every single song on Vheissu is either a 9/10 or 10/10. That album shifted my musical taste forever.
If this has not been posted yet. This interview with Riley has me amped for the album closer! Says he'd love to play it live but doubt they could pull it off as it has countless layers and orchestral parts. Also talks about lullaby a bit. AltWire Interview With Riley Breckenridge of Thrice ("ON THE ALBUM’S CLOSER ‘SALT AND SHADOW’) IT’S SUPER EPIC AND IT GIVES ME CHILLS WHEN I LISTEN TO IT, AND I THINK IT WOULD DO THE SAME FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE..”
Well, like I said, it's relative. I still think they're really solid songs. They just don't, and never have, done as much for me as many other songs on Vheissu. I actually kinda find it funny that people always complain when Thrice is "too generic" when the two most popular songs thus far on their genre-bending, most universally praised release are the two "most generic" to me. You'd be pretty hard pressed to find a rock fan who doesn't appreciate those songs... which can't be said for Hold Fast Hope or The Earth Will Shake. They all work together on one of my all time favorite albums, but those parts individually aren't my favorite pieces.
Vheissu got stuck in my CD player yesterday during a long drive, so I listened to it like three times front to back. My favorites are definitely Of Dust and Nations, Red Sky, The Earth Will Shake, For Miles, and Atlantic. My least favorites are Like Moths to Flame and Stand and Feel Your Worth, but those are still 8/10 songs to me.
I didn't think I could get more excited for this album, but that interview did the trick. If "Salt and Shadow" is anywhere close to "Red Sky" or "Beggars," then we're in for a treat.
ic: t&c ios: so strange i remember you taita: silhouette v: stand and feel your worth (hard to choose) tai-f: messenger, a: night diving, w: sky is falling, e: earth isn't humming b: doublespeak m/m: promises two songs in and i'm ready for the new album and for the show in houston. bring it on!
Apparently they'll be playing a song on this tour that they haven't played live in 12 years With a New Album and Outlook, Thrice Insist They're Back For Good
Has anyone heard The Abolition of Man post-2004? That's TAITA's best song and it hasn't been played in a LONG time. That's my guess. They're playing The Sky is Falling for the first time as Dustin confirmed via Twitter.
I can't wait for this album anymore, going crazy over here. Been waiting 5 years. I wish they had a pre-order bonus like with Major/Minor and sent out vinyl's 2 weeks early.
Could it be Hoods On Peregrine? That's be awesome to see live. The only other ones I guess it could be are The Melting Point Of Wax (which would also be cool to see) or Blood Clots And Black Holes.
Blood Clots was played during while touring the alchemy index and beggars tour, but always welcome since it's great. The Abolition of Man and Hoods On Peregrine would be amazing, especially Hoods as the opener. After bringing Paper Tigers back last year, I feel anything is possible.
I just read the ALT Wire interview and Riley said that Hoods always fell flat live so they pulled it. Shame because I think it'd be great live.
If it is from TAITA I hope it's not Blood Clots. I've always thought that was the most forgettable song on the album. And, frankly, I wouldn't really want to see anything from IOS. The Beltsville Crucible, maybe, but I'd much rather see later songs.
Agree with this so much, Blood Clots is the only forgettable song on TAITA, like I can describe every other song but not that one...would love abolition of man, that's a tune, but agree later songs should take precedence
