won't make my list for another month I have no clue where anything is because guess what lists do not matter at all
Black honey remains their best song. I still love this so much. Came in at like 33ish on my list. Extremely good considering just how much great music there was this year and how much of it I loved
death from above and whistleblower are two of my faves by them. idk if anything will ever top daedalus though hah
Haven't gone back to this much this fall, but I definitely still love it whenever I put it on and there are some really great songs on here: The Long Defeat, Black Honey, Death From Above, Whistleblower
Favs for me have to be Black Honey, Long Defeat, Hurricane and Stay with Me. It's all good though, except the final track. It is the only song in all of their discography that I can't get into.
The Window is still my fav, and this is definitely in my top five for the year. So glad they're back.
Hurricane resonated with me more than any other song this year. There's no question it's my SOTY and this album is my AOTY. I probably haven't listened to nearly as many albums as a lot of members on this forum though.
When the album first dropped I thought Hurricane was just ok. After hearing the acoustic version is what sold me on how amazing that song is. Now I love both versions. "Why my faith feels like a fist full of sand....." line is so powerful, and I'm not even religious lol
Hurricane and Salt & Shadow are two of the standouts for me. Absolutely love those two songs and everything in between, but I feel like everything in between is enhanced greatly by the opener and closer here. So. Damn. Good.
His delivery on that verse is so powerful. "I can't keep from wondering why nothing good could ever stay. Why faith feels like a fistful of sand." Gets me every time!
