When's that coming out? I'm super casual in my ETID fandom. in fact, I should probably hit up the albums in their discog that I haven't heard yet to get ready for this. Loved FPU though.
September 29th? I think. Somewhere around there. The pink vinyl sold out :( I'd say just go backwards from FPU. They get a little rawer as you go back but the quality is consistent
Tank/Sanchez/Coffee doin the Lord's work. Bringing it back full Circles(ayyy), wearing the Thrice baseball cap for 2 weeks now and have received 3 derogatory fatherhood remarks. Can confirm dad rock.
Yeah shoutout to @Dirty Sanchez for also saving the thread So idk this album just isn't growing on me like id hope it would, but not a real significant amount of time has passed so that may change.
I think what I love about it is how big this album sounds. Sonically, from a production standpoint, I think this bus their best work yet. Every song just sounds massive. It also helps that the hooks on here are some of the best Dustin has ever written. As far as the songwriting goes, I just love the groove to this record. The musicianship is so tight, from the big opening of Hurricane, to the 7/4 groove of The Window, the mellow yet anthemic The Long Defeat. Black Honey flows exceptionally well and has a chorus that just kicks you in the teeth. Stay With Me is an exceptional ballad with a soaring chorus, and Death From Above and Whistleblower offers up an incredible one-two punch before closing things out with the wonderful Salt And Shadow. This album has had a strange effect on me because I was not really anticipating it much at all until the week it was coming out. I think the album accomplishes everything that Major/Minor was trying to do in being a more accessible alternative rock record. This album flows better and has much stronger songwriting than M/M and even against some of this band's other works. Surprisingly, this album turned out to be everything I wanted from a Thrice album at this time.
I played this album at work last night. Two employees came up to me and asked "who is this you're playing?". Oh it's a band Thrice..... Do you have a moment so I can speak to you about Thrice?
I have had this same conversation so, so many times. My boss told me she's going to have to warn our new-hires about my "Thrice outreach." I remain unashamed.
That was a strange little read. Anyways--Album rules but I'll readily admit I haven't listened to nearly as much 2016 albums as some of you. I'm just stuck in my old ways this year :(.
I hope their set for the 2nd leg of the tour is different since I only looked at the setlist because they weren't coming to me and now they are Someone said earlier they may drop Hurricane and Long Defeat....nooooooo. Those and Black Honey are the ones I'm dying to see live. As for album of the year thing, Thrice is my all time favorite band but I don't think I'd have it in my 10 either. Doesn't mean I don't like the album. New Killswitch takes the cake for me as number 1. What a fantastic record.
As a fan of most of those bands, that'd be one crazy and possibly cool album. I know this is old, but I'm just now seeing it.
I could be entirely wrong as it's just speculation. I just expect Whistleblower to make an appearance on the second leg and I think another one they haven't played will pop up as well. They'll probably drop one or two new songs from this leg because I can't see them playing 7-8 songs from the new album with as large as discography as they have. 5-6 again seems likely.
I'd like to have Whistle blower but don't want to drop any of the other new songs. Why can't I have it both ways damn it! No matter what I hope they keep For Miles, Yellowbelly, All The World is Mad and Silhouette. I'll be fine from there.
