This is the 300th time you've responded to something I've said with something dramatic, cynical and over-the-top. It's kind of disturbing, especially since I rarely engage with anything you write for this very reason. Nobody can speak to my tone or intent, but me. So, please stop harassing me. I've asked once already. When a documented Thrice fan does not have their latest record ranked in their midyear top 10, I'm allowed to express my surprise. Whatever subtext you've added has nothing to do with me or what I said. Not everybody is a cynic. "I can't believe a documented Thrice fan does not have their new record in their midyear top 10" does not equal "Stop trying to force your taste on people!" Thank you, Teebs, for being a voice of reason.
@Jason Tate is also a professed fan of Brand New, at least one of their albums in on his top ten of all time. I seriously doubt we would even see their fifth LP anywhere near his honorable mentions this year. Just pointing out that, as far as Jason is concerned, past love for a band has little to no bearing on what he's enjoying this year. And. That's. Okay.
I like lots of albums that aren't in a hastily tossed together top 10 list I made for fun. (Listen to last week's podcast.) Turns out when you make an arbitrary number be a cut off you have to make cuts and not everything can fit. Talking about me in this manner is fucking weird, like, yeesh. I like what I like, enjoy what you like, damn.
Uhhh...."rightful place" definitely implies a sense of superiority, don't care how you try to defend it. Not sure how you can be so self unaware tbh Anyway, I'm not at all surprised if this doesn't make anyone's top 10, considering I forgot it came out.
I mean, I was a huge Green Day fan when I was younger (American Idiot might be my favorite album ever), but I wouldn't put the Uno/Dos/Tre trilogy in my top albums of their year. Having a band or album from a band in your favorites doesn't mean that whatever they put out in the future will end up in your favorites automatically.
You're the one harassing people and being woefully obtuse to the situation and you've had several people call you out on it only to ignore it. It's becoming really weird and kills any discussion anyone wants to have because you're being incredibly condescending and exerting some creepy sense of superiority. Have a discussion with us instead of telling us why our opinions and subjective tastes are wrong with subtle little jabs and weird comments.
Motion City Soundtrack is my favorite band and Panic Stations hardly made my top 20. Just because I love the band doesn't mean they HAVE to be in my top 10/20/whatever arbitrary number
It would be weird if Jason had been praising the album and saying it's an album of the year contender but then it didn't make his top 10. But from the start he said he enjoyed the album but didn't feel the urge to return to it.
