I just don't let outside influences affect my music opinions. I like reading critic reviews and discussing with fans but at the end of the day my opinion is all that matters to me. The fact that you're using those outside influences to invalidate us is what's so frustrating @Mike J. I don't care if you polled every Thrice fan ever, myself (and quite a few others from what I've seen) like Vheissu but don't consider it their best. That doesn't make our opinions or discussions any less valid than yours.
I remembered it was when Thrice was doing the #ThriceThursdays and reflecting on certain songs. If you google it, an Absolute Punk page comes up but of course it doesn't work anymore. I found the post on facebook too but the band took down everything pre TBEITBNW on their site. I guess it's lost fooorreeevvveerrr
Now I'm imagining it played on a banjo and it sounds amazing. Why haven't we gotten one of those bluegrass tributes to Thrice yet?
This is an odd conversation These guys ruled last night. Best show I've seen since my first Thrice show in 09
Watching live videos in anticipation of tonight. My productivity is probably going to suffer a lot today.
Someone posted start times in one of these threads. I am going to look around for it. EDIT: Here is the quote from the Tour thread: And I believe someone responded that it was the same in Orlando.
I feel like The Long Defeat would do ok on alternative radio(Sirus/XM Alt nation). It won't be #1 or anything, but I think it would be liked. They should make that happen.
As a guy who thinks Vheissu is the best record ever made, I think it's cool that many fans think Beggars is the best. What a testament to Thrice. In a recent interview Ed has also stated that Vheissu is the most "punk" record they made. Mostly for its defiance to the labels expectations which is a super cool way to see it still as a punk record although musically it is not.
Obviously Alchemy is most diverse, but I would say the most diverse songs as an individual unit are objectively in Vheissu. Take Moths for example, acoustic guitar verses, jazzy bridge, HEAVY as effff outro. For Miles same thing with the piano and guitar tapping and HEAVY as effff outro. They don't have many other songs that are so polarized in style within the same song.
The LiveNation page says "Performance begins at 630PM" but I just found the House of Blues event page and it says "Doors @ 630PM. Performance begins at 8PM."
I'll never understand the "best album objectively" argument. First off, why is everyone ashamed of having a favorite album that isn't everyone else's. You don't have to justify yourself. Like what you like. And second, even if it was possible to determine an objective "best" album, who cares? it's like the most pointless discussion you could possibly have, and ultimately goes nowhere lol
I just noticed mine says doors at 6:30 too. I'm just trying to figure out if I have time to go home in between work and the show.
I like Thrice. Their new album is good. Really good. They have other albums that are good too. One of their albums is probably their best album, but that's according to me. According to you it may be another album. Thrice rocks.
My plan is to get there super early. If I do, I'll send you a message and let you know what I find out.
Thanks! I have 2-month old twins at home and my wife is thankfully letting me go to the show, so I think I'm going to head home first and help her out with dinner and the babies and then head to the show to get there by 8. It wouldn't be a big deal, but I really like Gates and want to see them.
Waiting in line for the show. I'm about 20 people back. All I have is my phone. So I'll be passing the time on here. Now is the time to share those amusing anecdotes you have been holding back.
