Well I told myself I wasn’t going to listen to any more singles after “The Grey” but just couldn’t help myself after seeing the reaction. Interesting choice for opening single. I think it’s great. It definitely doesn’t have the emphatic, emotional tone like Hurricane did, but the synths add an awesome dynamic to the sound and really has me intrigued to hear the rest of the album.
You may as well be judging production from a pair of beats with how bass boosted bose are. My JBL monitors are flat as hell

Mike you need to get down with this song or you're not a real fan, I'm sorry its just fact. Time to sell the vinyl/cds/posters and trade it in. I'm kidding of course.. maybe
Holding off on this because I know I’ll over play it. Sounds like they’re trying something a little different which I’m excited about.
Song is good. Doesn't get me too hyped though. Weird opener, seems like it may have fit better in the middle of the album since they normally have more upbeat openers, but I'll have to judge when the whole album drops. I also can't hear the guitar, but they have songs without guitar so it's not a deal breaker haha.
my computer speakers suck and one side of my headphones doesn't work that well but this is some good shit
I'm in the same boat...I can hear it, but it isn't as legible as the grey is But I think there is more going on in this song, particularly in the back half so I'm not too perturbed Need to listen with my senheissers and maybe fuck with the EQ on my bose app. Little wireless buds are really bass heavy
Somewhere in this world is a vast hole filled with the guitars of Fall Out Boy and Thrice. Also, “you think I’m the kinda THRICE fan who listens through only one conduit” is a definite contender for my all time favorite post. It’s right up there with “are we listening to a 2017 Grammy winner? Hmmmmmm” This thread rules.
Okay. Okay. You guys have convinced me. I'll listen once. I know that nobody actually cares what I do or don't do, just wanted to clarify. I wanted to clarify that I know that nobody actually cares to hear me clarify this. I actually wanted to clarify that...
Sometimes I think we get lost in obsessing over details of production and miss the entire intention of music and the artist. /my old man 2 cents
I mean the front half of the song sure the guitars are just being used as a higher texture but once that bridge hits the guitars are front and center and completely unavoidable, so I don’t know how people can’t hear it at all
I didn’t even want to talk about it but after listening I really thought the song sounded great, better than TBEITBN possibly, and immediately saw people trashing the production. Was very confused. The comments about not hearing the guitar just took that confusion to another level
Oh yeah, wasn't trying to call anyone out or anything, just a more generalized thing I've noticed. Sometimes I feel like people are looking at Picasso's "The Old Guitarist" and going "meh, no red, it sucks," and we miss why an artist is doing what they do, the intent behind it, and where it works and why. All the minutiae getting dissected while we miss the bigger picture completely.
