I fucking loooooooooooove the synth in this song. No complaints from me.

Really bummed that all of the posts in here were about a new song and not TLJ.

I tried to resist, but I listened. I dig it. The flow from this into the Grey is an interesting sequencing choice.

Either way, I am still hype for the rest of the record.

I forgot "The Grey" is track 2 on this thing, going to put these in a playlist and listen to the flow, seems like it would be weird.

Ah, they’re an electronic group haha... I’m honestly not too familiar with a lot of electronic stuff lol, makes sense

I just listened to the tracks back to back on Apple Music, imo it flows pretty well.

Yeah just did it myself, not bad at all. To be honest I get bored easier with albums that don't do different things throughout it. I like diversity in an album while also keeping it semi consistent, that's why I love the new Foxing record, the songs are pretty different from each other, but all have a similar undertone to them which makes it a cohesive album, while also being diverse.

Also want to add that I enjoyed "The Grey" more when going from "Only Us" to it.

I’m listening to it on Apple Music as well.

I just find it a tad jarring that the feedback is slowly fading out on Only Us and then The Grey kind of abruptly starts.

I prefer cleaner transitions. A few more seconds would have done it. But that’s just a personal thing. And definitely a minor quibble. But obviously the song had just ended when I wrote my post so it was the freshest thing on my mind.

Edit: I realize that “sequencing” in my initial post was probably an inartful word choice. I wasn’t referring to anything stylistic about Only Us being followed by The Grey. I meant that the actual transition from Only Us to The Grey was an interesting choice.

I’m well aware of Thrice’s experimentation, but I still never thought they’d take something like this synth line on an opening track of an LP

This is executed so well and Dustin’s lyrics are 2/2 for me.

Maybe I can actually successfully order the vinyl now?

It’s like Dustin took Carry The Fire and beefed it up with Ed’s tone

This is a strange track. Goes in a lot of different directions.
Really enjoy the last minute and a half. Dustin sounds realllly good there

We reach for the longest shadow

As a rather casual Thrice fan I dig this a lot. Kind of reminds me of Anberlin's Vital. They were able to add electronic elements while still maintaining a heavy rock vibe and it worked really well.

Does anyone else hear "Between The End and Where We Lie" before the second verse?

The sigh was my initial reaction. I've listened to it 10 times since, and I'm still torn. I like parts of this song, but something just isn't coming together. To echo a few others, the production sounds muddled on these first two songs. I've never believed in piecemeal production, especially when Palmquist just produced your best sounding record.
