Also I saw that the term butt rock comes from an old Hard Rock station announcement that said "Nothing but Rock", but people turned it into "Nothing butt rock". As if the term itself wasn't already stupid enough.

 

I always figured it was because they sing like they are clenching their butts reallllllly tight

 

I'm pretty sure it's because people say "this 'insert random thing' is ass", buttrock is something that sucks ass.

 

But Seether is soooo much better than those other bands

I hope not, they are good too.

That hurts.

Nickelback, Seether, Theory of a Deadman, 3 Doors Down, Breaking Benjamin, Staind, Puddle of Mudd, Three Days Grace, Five Finger Death Punch, Creed, Hinder, Daughtry, Default, Shinedown, Stone Sour, Anberlin, Chevelle, 30 Seconds to Mars, etc.

Those are all considered butt rock according to the internet.

 

Pretty accurate for how I think of the term, other than Anberlin. I suspect they’re on there because people have only heard Feel Good Drag.

 

The bold are all good bands though.

But yeah, I would say anything that is really played on the radio get that title. That is why Underoath and Thrice now get that sometimes.

 

Imma start a band that covers exclusively those bands.... called cover your butts

Not great. But I kinda liked it

Seether is a really bad band c'mon now

 

The only bands on that list I like at all are BB, 3DG, and Anberlin

 

But...Seether is undeniably better and more talanted than 3DG. If you are going to say one is bad and one isn't.

I said I like 3DG, or at least some of their output. I don't really give half a shit about talent or whatever, I care if they write songs I like. I'm also not going to act like 3DG is a great band or anything, I'm fully aware most people here dislike them and that's totally fine

 

Baha I liked them both but this made me laugh pretty hard.

3 days grace has more songs i like than seether. i think its like 3 vs 1 though lol not saying much. breaking benjamin probably better than both /shrug

 

this riff holds up, this was the first song i ever bought on itunes

 

I’ve never been a fan of the genre but I have to admit Creed has some legitimately good songs, at least instrumentally
