I thought Thrice was dad rock?

Now I'm really confused.

 

This is me and I’m 24. I fear for my future kids.

 

one of my friends called them butt rock some years ago and I legit almost ended that friendship then and there

 

lol I remember in the TBEITBN thread there was someone who came in and said that and Jason thread banned them immediately hahaa

I'm okay to consider all of my favorite bands as categorically dadrock, so to speak.

But if someone calls it "butt rock," thems fighten' words. I had one of my teenagers compare Thrice to Nickelback and I just about lost my religion and abandoned the ministry altogether.

 

I hate the phrase "buttrock."

 

I think they got associated with buttrock because they started getting played on mainstream rock radio. Therefore, it's assumed that they are also buttrock.

 

So most of my favorite bands are buttrock because they play on mainstream rock radio. Nice.

 

A lot of my favorite bands have been considered "buttrock" so I'm glad to see that term going away haha.

 

I guess I’ll do the same. Maybe we will have some luck.

I see this question a lot, so I’ll try to shed some light. It goes like this:

When a daddy butt and a mommy rock really love each other, they have a special kind of hug. And 9 months later, a stork delivers to them a butt rock.

At least, that’s how it was explained to me. I could be getting some details wrong.

I think of HInder when I hear the term.

 

Butt rock is Puddle Of Mudd, Seether, Three Doors Down... you get it

 

Is Hoobastank buttrock?

 

I'm inclined to say no, but I couldn't tell you why.

 

What do any of these bands have to do with butts.
