Rough Trade NYC opens at 9 am. Last year it was 10 am, so I guess now I need to line-up at 7 to give myself any chance at some Thrice.
I actually ordered one off eBay, not 100 percent sure how legit it is, but the seller just made a shipping label and he has great reviews. I paid 36 bucks which I know is more than it will be, but I wanted to cover my bases just in case I can't get one.
Yeah, it included shipping which sometimes costs so dang much. There's some on there for 60 and even 90 bucks.
A store in my city will have some and said it would be 34.99 so pretty comparable to do that. Pretty steep of a price for a 4 song ep tho.
my store should have mine in tomorrow, said if they get it in they'll let me know and I can pick it up. Getting AMPED!
It's reached a point where I'm going to have to hire someone to make a video for "Beyond the Pines." Epitaph's ineptitude is beyond me. That song is a visual feast, and it's shameful that the label is asleep at the wheel.
Why don't you just enjoy the song for what it is and not get upset over it not being a single? If I had a dollar for every song I love that didn't get a music video or radio play I wouldn't need a job.
Pines is (one of) my favorites on the album, but as good as I think it is, it wouldn't be a good choice for a single. Epitaph made the right call.
Who said anything about a single? "The Dark" got a video without being a proper single. "Promises" and "In Exile" aren't radio singles, either.
As much as I’d loved to see some kind of cool video to accompany the the song, I’d have a greater disappointment if the video didn’t match the visual Dustin’s lyrics and the the tone of the instruments put in my head.
All of those videos are basically the band playing or studio footage, which is not the hardest thing to put together and I don't think that would be satisfying for that song with all the imagery in the lyrics. Also The Dark probably got a video because they wanted to do something with the videos people sent. I think you should just let it go and stop focusing so much on that. You wouldn't be happy if they did a video and it ended up not being what you envisioned. Just let the song speak for itself, it does a great job at that.
It would also make more sense at this point to pick a single/video for Deeper Wells. Sometimes people do fan made videos. Maybe someone will feel inspired. If it’s great we can say, told ya, and if not, totally disown it. Other than that though, I think we have to get past. I will say Beyond The Pines is one of the best Thrice songs in my opinion.
They just put a small preview of all 4 songs on their instagram story if anyone is interested. "Deeper Wells" seems like the hardest song on there, but I'm really interested in "Stumbling West" sounds gorgeous. Actually they made a post to, for those interested here you go:
All four of these songs already sound better than the majority of Palms. Wonder why these got left off the album. Yeah, I said it.
