I think we are expecting something based on hearsay, and a clip from Dustin. So yes, nothing official, nothing saying specifically RSD, but the intel has been good thus far. I don’t think it was meant to be a secret, and who knows if Epitaph has anything to do with it or not
I don’t think there has been an exact number posted since nothing is official. I feel like either Dustin, Mike or a few other posters made it sound between 3-5. Teppei and Dustin did a video interview on Tour so his ‘about’ number was mentioned there.
I've always been in the camp that Deadbolt is a good song, but it's not the "torch to end all torches" so to speak.
I read a rumor a while back that one of the b-sides was actually a new recording of Deadbolt. I suspect that it was probably just a rumor, though.
I read a rumor that one of the b-sides was a Seether cover. Jokes aside, I'd be down for a studio recording of Deadbolt with the extended live outro.
I still hold out hope for a full and version of Milly Michaelson like they played it live, even though the original is one of my favourite Thrice songs.
Yeah, the live version is mesmerizing. I saw them play it when they toured with a band that rhymes with Stan View. Really a perfect song that they somehow made even better.
Dear Thrice, I know for a fact that you read my takes on here. So, this is my periodic reminder that I would sell my soul for a 'Best of' record that rearranges your myriad of great songs in a more stripped-down fashion. Dustin and Teppei's acoustic renditions are always a pleasure since they approach each song in a markedly different way than the full band/studio versions. Incorporating strings, brushes and mallets––a la the AOL Music Sessions––would be welcomed, too. Eternally yours, Michael
From the perspective of the band I think reading through here would be the most discouraging thing ever
Didn’t they say that this could be a thing someday in an interview. Just not anytime soon. I could see Thrice doing a renditions record like Moving Mountains acoustic based EP. Still a full band, just acoustic and rearranged. You asked so nicely so maybe you’ll get your way. In the meantime, I’m excited for the EP and Dustin and Chase’s project.
I wouldn't hold my breathe for that Brothers Kensrue project. And yes, they've talked about a stripped-down 'Best of' of sorts.
Dustin was the one who posted a picture of himself and Chase working on music for a new project. Wonder what happened. Contracts? Time? Working on Thrice related stuff?
Dustin has teased a number of projects that have never seen the light of day. Artists often make stuff that never gets released. Sometimes, they just don't like it enough to release it. I'm not saying that's the case here, but when you're already in a full-time band and you have 4 ladies to account for when you're not doing that full-time band, side projects end up on the back-burner in no time flat. Heck, look how long it took him to follow up his first solo record.
I understand and relate to the whole time crunch thing. I think you hear bands working on material on the road because it’s important to keep your mind busy when you’re gone, and when you’re home all you want to do is be home and be a husband and dad. It’s also different when it’s family you’re working with. There is an understanding of your working partners situation (Chase would be their uncle and brother in law). Not sure if he has a family too. When Dustin announced his first solo record it wasn’t a surprise, because he had been playing solo shows and writing solo material, flirting with Ursus Veritas name. It took a while and it happened. He always made it sound like the second album would take a while. I did, but it is awesome and musically different from the first. Modern Post came as a surprise. The religious worship music wasn’t a surprise because he was working with his church. Solo covers album was also a great surprise. I figured a new side project would only be a 4-5 song Ep. Am I missing out on another project he announced that never happened?
