Well I do apologize for coming off that way. Hopefully we have better interactions in the future!

Nope. Just referring to what's going on with how the origins of this whole thing are being re-written by some people and trying to make sure everyone is clear on what actually started this.

i should never have called anyone anything and for that i’m sorry. but i still think Colin’s contradiction was infuriatingly tonedeaf in a way that i can’t wrap my head around. it was also a comment that i was targeted by. and i have never even interacted with Colin before this. yes Colin, some others and i stopped using the site for a bit when there was an impasse and after some communication came back and kept a lower profile and largely ditched our chat thread because we heard the criticisims of cliquiness and now largely communicate off of the web. meanwhile you’re up to the same old stuff.

i see people like teebs and Colin sling shit when it suits them and call for world peace when it doesn’t. idk if it’s farming for likes or trying to win an argument but i definitely don’t think it’s either of you actually standing for anything. so i will just fuck off or block you or something. but make no mistake - i didn’t come in here to start a fight. i came in here and saw a post literally targeting a group of people i am part of based on pure happenstance. that’s fucked up and i hope you feel super slick

I don't think I just post on here to "Farm for likes" I don't really care about likes lol. I promote new music and share recommendations with people on here all the time. I'm here to talk about music and made some friends along the way. I saw someone who has been very nice to me being called out for something I felt was fairly innocent and I wanted to step in, the joke was a bad way to do it, very bad way to do it.

why would I pay 5 dollars a month for 2 years for a site that i just "farm for likes" on...

  10. I don't apologize for calling teebs out for doing the same fucking shit all over again and will continue to do it again in another thread in the near future. I blocked him but god damn the Teebs Cycle gets so annoying to see happen in the music threads at a regular basis and then it all comes to a head and we try and deconstruct where it all started and he just slides in with an "i apologize for saying something insensitive I'll try better in the future to think before I post and hope we can all get along better in the future!" at the end and there's no learning there's no growing and he gets away with it every fucking time.

If I disliked someone as much as you dislike me I would just ignore them and not give them the time of day.

If you got to know me like many other users on this site have, I don’t think you’d feel the same way. Again my dms are always open for discussion

I'm just saying this is a suuuuper weird mindset to have if the actual intention of your posts is to educate or spark change in people. Seems more like a personal vendetta than giving a shit about the situation, imo. Do you, though.

  14. It's happened for years now, the exact same way, every single time. it's beyond an issue of educating and changing him

Like, does it irritate me to no end that it's usually a select set of Music forum posters playing as close to the side of problematic shit as possible without outwardly being harmful? Absolutely. But it also leaves a bad taste in my mouth that the alt-forum crew bands together to shit on individual posters on the site. It takes away a lot of the discussion that is naturally happening and just makes people angry and not want to post. It blew up like that in the Pinegrove thread as well.

I've spent a huuuge portion of my time in the recent years on here and AP pushing back against problematic, harmful viewpoints and behaviors. I've been banned several times for how abrasive I was. Do I regret my intention for posting in such a way? Absolutely not, I still have very strong feelings regarding a lot of artists/labels that most people have given free passes to. At the same time, I understand that the way that I was posting lead to so much more pushback and anger and resentment and defensiveness that could have been a conversation. The toxicity increased across the board.

There are absolutely times when the other side is in the wrong. If they're an abuser or they're defending an abuser or shutting down victims, then fuck em. I'll be right there with you tearing them apart and being as rude and abrasive as possible. But situations like this that seem to be (at least until later in the conversation when true colors come out) a misunderstanding of wording don't need that type of hostility.

I don't think teebs or the other dorks who fall on the wrong side of arguments have bad intentions. I don't think they want to support abusers or consciously recognize the fact that their comments are harmful. But instead of posting a 1000 page collegiate thesis on the "Teebs Cycle" or w/e, just call them out and explain what is harmful about the situation.

So his intention is what, then? I just kinda think Teebs is a weird guy (sorry) who gets worked up or defensive a lot. It's absolutely frustrating, but he's a person. He exists outside of the site and he doesn't, at least from my interactions with him, appear to be a malicious or harmful person. I don't get why complete character assassination any time he slips up is necessary.

  20. There is a history of them always lining up on the side of the abuser or defending other users whose posts are on the side of the abuser or trying to steer threads away from conversations about abusers so they can "talk about the music" that shows they actually want to support abusers and they know their comments are harmful. They get told it time and time again. They have 0 excuses to continue behaving this way. There's no way it isn't 100% intentional at this point.

So, if you don't believe it is, that's fine, I think that's naive, and in 2 months there's gonna be another thread in the music forum where they all do it again and that's because this always turns into "well teebs or his friends said something gross or defended a lesser known poster who said something gross, but the others ganged up on him so...." and we need to find a better way to talk to each other or whatever. And no, that's not the issue. The issue is them posting gross shit or defending gross shit in the first place because somehow they still feel okay doing so and get surprised when they get called out for it. No amount of trying to educate them or change them has made any tangible difference in the ~2 years its been happening so it's a wasted effort.

I disagree, the only time I’ve sided with abusers was in the pinegrove thread. I’ve and I admitted I was wrong. You don’t get to just say these things about me. They arnt true.. go follow my social media, I’m not posting about bands that are problematic, I’m not talking about them, I’m supporting artist that deserve support at least from what I know about them at this time. this post makes me out to be someone i very much am not. You don’t get to just say things about me, they arnt true. YOU DONT KNOW ME.

I’ve donated organs to peope to keep them
Alive, I’ve done more for people than you know. This isn’t fucking okay. Please stop talking about me and please leave me the fuck alone.

I also care about this community, when drew got robbed last week I set him money. You don’t get to attack my character like this. This isn’t fucking okay

Oh I'm absolutely sure that Colin or Teebs are going to say something fucking stupid in 2 months. That's easy money. My point is that I find it equally naive to believe that they are consciously, actively interested in supporting abusers. They're doing what they are doing as a defense mechanism. They feel attacked, they're going to push back with passive aggressive shit or attempting to ignore the situation and get back to business as usual, and nothing changes.

I think it's pretty clear that the situations stem from ignorance and the fact that many posters cannot process the fact that their viewpoints, while not intending to be toxic or harmful, are contributing to a toxic society. It's the same reason so many people scoff at the idea of white privilege. I don't care how many times the conversation has to take place and I need to spell out why viewpoints or opinions or language can be viewed as harmful, I'm going to take the time to do it. I think coming in hot and coming in personal just leads to the other side closing up and getting more and more and more defensive. It simply doesn't work.

Since both bands seemingly are into touring with different markets now, I'd be pretty happy with a Underoath/Thrice coheadliner.

And I don't want this to come across as tone policing or anything like that. There are times when being cordial goes out the window and you need to call a racist a racist as bluntly as possible. Both sides-ism can be incredibly harmful as well. I just don't think this is a case where that needs to happen.
