And I'm not against educating instances where it is useful, but 1) it wasn't that kind of situation and 2) when it comes off as "let me stop all the conversation and show how I am better than you for being more open minded" it falls flat off significance.

Now, I know that isn't what was said, but that feels like how it is intended, which is where I think a lot of this is stemming from. I think a healthier way to go about it would have been something like "I wish Emma Ruth Rundle got more credit for her work on this song, and her other music is great too, etc, etc"

 

If the guest vocalist had been Nathan of All Get Out, and I had said exactly the same thing “I really like how they used a guest vocalist”, do you think poster would have posted, “His name is Nathan Hussey”?

Since I was talking about Thrice, I kept it Thrice related. Since I never said “female” or “male” guest vocalist, it indicates that I consider them as equals....guest vocalists.

People try and find things that aren’t there sometimes.

 

Okay.. I mean I like that artist and I’m glad she’s getting a ton of credit for her work on this album and her work on her record from last year. I support her and her music, but I also don’t think someone is wrong for mentions a guest vocalist and not being specific about it. Especially in a thread where Emma has already received a ton of credit for her work on the song.

 

Exactly. This poster didn’t have any comments in her latest album thread either. So it feels opportunistic. I even said her work with Thrice inspired me to listen to one of her songs. I think most people are always good with honest music recommendations. People aren’t always ok with insults and insinuation.

 

Stop comparing men and women in rock music as if they both have equal opportunity because they very clearly do not, unfortunately.

 

Also, whether or not I have posts in her album thread or not should not determine the legitimacy or validity of my position. Get the fuck out of here with that weakass argument

This straight up goes against the wishes of some female musicians. there have been female artists that have been very vocal about the fact that they get bugged when everyone feels the need to preface everything they do with the fact theyre female.

This back and forth when everything has been explained in perfect English is pointless. No one is doing what you are saying. There are real cases of what you are describing out there that you can go battle. No one is doing that here.
