Nah man. Frodus said they were covering Thrice. (I can't listen now, but think this is the video lol)
It’s was a tongue in check joke. Original was by Frodus, and Thrice didn’t try and pass it off otherwise. They just made it acoustic. It’s not too far off the original, both are good, and it probably added a little exposure Frisia would not have had otherwise. Nothing major though.
And to think that the Alchemy Index could have not been released at all...glad Island and Vagrant helped make it happen.
I enjoy the lyrical themes on Palms but the lyrics are not up to par imo. They’ve been on the (relative) decline since M/M tbh. I really want DK to bring it in the lyrical department next album.
"One day they sent me to the chaplain when I said I can't go on. And all they said was just to shut my mouth and do the will of God." Some of my favorite Thrice lyrics.
The outro lyrics on Death From Above are amazing as well... “We only justify someone’s resolve to rise against and to avenge the innocent...”
"For every seed must die before it grows, and though above the world may toil and turn, no prying spades will find you here below. Now safe beneath their wisdom and their feet, here I will teach you truly how to sleep." So good.
It's not their crowd, though. The interplay was nonexistent since most people are there for the "headliner." It was hilarious watching all those roid-head fans of that bro band headliner walking in and out of frame.
They must be gaining some new fans though. I felt like touring w deftones and rise against didn't really expose them to a new crowd. This tour definitely is showing them to some new ears. Hopefully people are checking them out after or buying t-shirts.
Thrice is my favorite band and I love the new BMTH album and like the two previous ones. It definitely is possible that fans of BMTH could like Thrice after seeing them live.
