No, you still owe us the b side sequence and list of your least favorite songs. No posting about anything else until you've turned that in.
Haha. I was just thinking about this conversation, too. I do prefer the radio edit since the music gets to breathe slightly more despite Dustin's awful vocals and lyrics. It pains me to say that, but it's true for a lot of people. But, hey, even Michael Jordan shot below 50% from the floor on occasion.
She was the first choice on the shortlist for Just Breathe. She was unavailable, though. (While I speculated about this previously, it was confirmed to me via our church network.)
Imagine a world where Dustin n Julien release a collaborative LP like better oblivion community center. I just bummed myself out thinking about this haha.
It's hard for me to understand why some people don't like Branch. It's got such a unique vibe for Thrice, as well as their best (rocking) ending on Palms. I missed the endings of Long Defeat and The Window on Palms. Branch provided me the closest thing to such an ending.
These are the best songs on the album, no doubt Most of the songs are boring as hell. There's no better way to put it Her new album from 2018 is better than Palms
I'm still trying to get confirmation on the b-side release on record store day. Last I was told was that 4-5 would be released.
Four B sides? Wow I'd be surprised if they left that much off Palms. I'd expect 2, 3 maximum. But hey all is welcomed.
Never said I didn't like it, I said it's okay or meh or whatever you wanna call it. I just think the song isn't fast enough and lacks energy despite it trying to be energetic. It is much better in a live setting.
It doesn’t, but you have to write it according to that. There are songs that could use a few more bpm (and vice versa) and I totally see why someone would think that way about death from above. Thankfully it’s very easy to find out. I’m just too lazy to do it lol
A Branch in the River has a certain raw energy to it that I think fits the record well. If Palms had a firebreather-esq guitar tone or Blood Clots-like quickness it would have stuck out to me. Death from Above in context to TBEITBN is also heavy but not an outlier on the album. Both good songs.
Right. They know how to let things breathe to create several heavy moments instead of shoving as many notes down your throat like they did 15+ years ago And don’t get me wrong, I love TAITA (not IOS though), but this is a much different band now and some of y’all need to get with it
all I'm saying is a few (I'm talking 1-3bpm) up or down can sometimes make a big difference. Though, upon relistening to DfA, the intro alone would sound jumbled as fuck.
Right, and I’m saying I’m glad they left Death From Above the way it is because it’d sound ridiculous sped up because of what they’re trying to accomplish with that song
I think the end of Daedalus is a great example of thrice getting heavy without using speed or distortion. Its emotionally heavy, the best kind.
Why do you guys take everything so weirdly? Who said that a song needs to be fast to have energy? That's not what I said at all. I said that it's not fast enough and lacks energy, you can have both and not have one directly related to the other. Imagine actually trying to have a discussion in a forum instead of just throwing out comments without quoting the person who said it. That's why this site gets tiring sometimes.
They recorded more songs for Palms than any other record. They also omitted more songs from Palms than any other record. 4-5.
