my issue with beggars is it's too indie/stripped down sounding. Vheissu and the fire EP are the perfect amount of experimental and heavy mixed together for me.
I know other bands like Anberlin and Underoath have played shows with two full albums back to back. Imagine if Thrice did a small stent like that. Night 1: Artist and Vheissu, Night 2: The Alchemy Index, Night 3: Beggars and M/M, Night 4: TBE and Palms. Each with an encore of some sweet Illusion songs, or even do a night of IC and illusion.
My top heavier Thrice moments: -ending to For Miles -ending to Wake and Avenge the Dead -ending to Abolition of Man -ending to Under a Killing Moon -ending to The Messenger -ending to The Arsonist -intro to Blood Clots and Black Holes -intro to the 2nd verse in Hoods on Peregrine (starting with Ed's sweet bass solo part leading into THE. TRUTH. THEY. ARE. SELLING. YOU. OUT.) So good.
So many songs to rehearse lol. Hey New Found Glory just did 80+ songs on their year long anniversary tours. Realistically Thrice should do some sort of 20th anniversary celebration like a residency somewhere. But they won't.
Since we are thrice fantasizing...I'd love to see a theater tour like "an evening with..." type of set. 10 stripped down/acoustic arrangements. Intermission. 10 hits/singles followed by 10 fan favorites. Limited dates so they dont burn themselves out. Idk prob never but man that would be awesome.
I love all those big ideas, but then I'm sad because I know something as big as that would probably not come here.
Yeah and I totally get that. I do think they executed it better than on M/M, and I dont mind some of that, but it also lacked alot of what I love about their heavier albums It has grown on me over the years (I hated it when it first came out 10 years ago) but it will never be my go-to thrice album.
We got TBEITBN which I think is their best since the first alchemy index. So I wont complain too much about that.
