What's everyone's favorite Thrice moment in a song? I have a three way tie of: -The whole bridge of At the Last -The ending of The Messenger where Dustin and Teppei do guitar trade off's before HERE I AM, SEND ME -The whole heavy ending of For Miles that comes in so unexpectedly the first time you hear it. I love showing people that song for the first time.
But the build up to the final chorus in Earth Will Shake, the final chorus of Hold Fast Hope (which basically doubles as the third verse), the entire end section of Like Moths to Flame, and the outro of Of Dust & Nations are all up there for me. And yes, all from Vheissu.
The end of For Miles The chorus of Atlantic The end of Like Moths To Flame the intro (and outro) to Of Dust And Nations the end of Stand And Feel Your Worth The outro of Weight Of Glory (yes I know it's a b-side but still haha) No other Thrice album has hit those highs for me.
Like Moths to Flame ending would be a top 10 moments for me. That ending of Dust and Nations is always so good and I never tire of hearing it live. I remember the first time I heard it, Teppei's guitar slides during the outro jam sounds like Mario jumping and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since.
The end of... To Awake and Avenge the Dead, Don't Tell And We Won't Ask The chorus of Between the End and Where We Lie The beginning of The Long Defeat There's too many to list, but these are what first came to mind.
Probably same. Artist is probably the next closest with: Intro to Bloodclots and Hoods on Peregrine Outro of both Killing Moon, Paper Tigers and Abolition of Man Basically, this band knows how to nail outros haha!
They closed my show on their farewell tour with this (well, before a 2nd encore of Anthology) and Dustin jumped into the crowd and screamed that while a tech took over his guitar. So amazing. Also I agree with Long Defeat esp the he delivers the "It's all just a waste of time" line, also the pre chorus "So keep holding on" and on part is so good. Basically it's just a perfect song.
I've said it many times but the bridge with the fat bass in "Hoods on Peregrine" is probably my favorite Thrice moment
I think the bass lines are the best on that album. That, the verses of Stare at the Sun and chorus of Paper Tigers are tied for my favorite bass lines. Imagine if the bass sound on artist had the production of the new album?
The chorus of Backdraft is up there for me with top Thrice moments. Chorus of The Weight, Hurricane, and The Long Defeat are awesome too. Actually feel like there are a lot of terrific moments on TBEITBN. Much as it disappointed me, there’s some great moments on Palms. I just wish they were given more room to breathe.
The best moment on palms is the bass and drum breakdown at the end of branch, I think that’s a really cool part.
The bass part Eddie has in the bridge (?) Of Daedalus that leads into the heavy Oh Gods outro. Outro of The Whaler gets me every time with the emotional weight it seems to carry. Intro of Dust and Nations still one of the coolest things they’ve put together. When Everything Belongs goes big in the last chorus is my favorite Palms moment.
I know, and I love this record. Don’t get me wrong. I was playing it last night with friends and we were having a great time singing along. It’s still a band in turn to to bring people together.
