It's quite weird how I've (still) never once shamed anyone's opinion on here. Keep calling me the bad guy, though.
It's just frustrating bc you do keep shamming the band on weird things like when they put out a video you don't like or something
I'm not convinced its all not on purpose.. otherwise.. i don't even know. he's the king of hot takes I suppose
Hot takes involve calculation. I'm just putting my head onto screen. Hate me all you want. Block me if you must. But, the last year has proven who the real scumbags are. My gripes over Thrice's marketing strategy pale in comparison.
see, now you're calling me a scumbag! But in all seriousness I just disagree with a lot of what you say. it's nothing personal.
Same. I enjoy the back and forth, even though he is 100% dead wrong about: -Being number 1 Thrice fan -Artist -Seether Covers
I love Thrice more than anyone here. I can't help it if I dislike Artist (along with the rest of the band). I can't help it if I'm embarrassed by Seether. However, there's a reason why the band never publicly acknowledged or embraced their cover. Dustin also looked mortified in that interview with those two goofballs who said he sounds like Sam Seether. It was that Skype-based interview last year (when the Epitaph news leaked).
Yes. But, keep in mind, these candy commercials are not primarily made to sell those of us who are already sold on Thrice.
When somebody on Twitter labels their own tweet with "Hot Take: ...." that is the definition of calculated.
A hot take is a take that is given without any real thought or consideration. Once you consider that your take might be a hot take it's no longer a hot take, it's just what you said: a take calculated to get attention.
And how you are able to recognize when someone doesn't give any thought to their hot take? You're kidding yourself if you think there isn't calculation to what you define as a hot take. Make it look as organic as you want; that does not preclude tact.
I mean, it's not even logical to argue that people that like all of Thrice's music loves Thrice more. I know it's been beat to death, but no one else is buying that Thrice doesn't like Artist, just the way the production turned out. Those are two wildly different things. A true Thrice fan would know and not put words in their mouth. Not sure who Sam Seether is, but that doesn't sound like Dustin to be "mortified" that he is compared to a voice of another rock band.
According to "A History of the Hot Take," their definition is a "piece of deliberately provocative commentary."
I don't know what that is, but they're wrong. The term is often (mis)used to mean that, but that's not what it actually means.
You cannot prove when someone is being deliberate or not. Thus, plenty of hot takes will forever be by design. Stephen A. Smith, for example, thinks about his takes in advance. Does that mean his takes aren't hot? Of course not. We'd be fools to think he gets on TV and just starts talking off the top of his head.
