If I'm going to reinvigorate this album cycle, I'm not going to make a video for a song that was released 3 months ago. I'm going to make a video for a song like Pines that might drum up some new interest. If Only Us didn't already click with listeners new and old, then this video won't either.
It's one of the best songs on the album, what are you on about? How do you know who it didn't click with lol
I can understand that mindset a bit, but Only Us did click with most people I think and if they are wanting to push that song like The Grey, a video for it isn't a terrible idea.
I personally like "Only Us", but it's not that inaccurate to say it didn't click with a lot of people.
Who did it not click with? I’ve heard much more praise for Only Us than for The Grey, both on this site and elsewhere
Blocking him is once again being proven to be the correct action. I can’t see anything. But knowing he is hating on Only Us? Yeesh.
Now that we're getting Thrice and Jason Butler on the same tour I'm pouring one out for the Thrice/letlive tour that never was
Disappointed in JAB for agreeing to go out on tour with that fucking piece of shit Oli Sykes. You'd think he'd know better. Ugh.
yeah, jesus, I've lost so much respect for Thrice and the Fever 333. I get that money talks and everything but... what the fuck?
Aussie tour postponed because of this shit. I understand the exposure and everything, but fuck, they haven't toured here in 10 years and now we get postponed so they can tour the US for the god knows how many time since they were last here.
not sure what anyone expects when a band gets signed to epitaph. this is exactly the kind of tour a band on that label would get tossed onto. they’re very likely contractually obligated to do a tour that the label chooses for them edit: plus werent BMTH on epitaph until they went to a major label? seems even more like a label decision to put thrice on this tour
I snagged a Palms coaster from the bar at their show Saturday. A nice, random addition to all things Thrice
If the second single didn't sell Palms to new listeners 3 months ago, why would a video change that outcome 3 months later? Offer a different flavor at this point. The existing singles have done all they can do at this point. Hurricane wasn't a previously released single when its video dropped. I keep saying it, but Pines would've been perfect. That's a song that can reach many different (and new) pockets. I'm genuinely shocked that Thrice's brain trust was so pot committed to those first 3 tracks on Palms.
Singles and videos are commercials for the record. My point has nothing to do with people like us who were already sold on Palms 17 years ago. If you're releasing a new commercial for a commercial you released 3 months ago, how does that help the band sell more units? Again, if "Only Us" didn't convince new listeners to buy Palms 3 months ago, is this video going to change their minds 3 months later? (No.) You'll never convince me that an "Only Us" video – 3 months after its release as a single – will do more for this record than a "Pines" video at this point in the cycle. Did Vagrant make a "Blood on the Sand" video after the "Black Honey" video? Of course not. They took (arguably) the album's best song, Hurricane, and released it as a new single/video.
